Well, volume one of Gunlock is out and I just couldn't resist buying it. It's so nice to see the DVD quality and listen to my favorite voices (certainly NOT the English VA ;D) Geneon was nice enough to put the release schedule in the case, so I now know when to expect the next volumes.
vol 2 June vol 3 August vol 4 October vol 5 December vol 6 February 2007 vol 7 April 2007
The early episodes weren't the best, but I really look forward to some of the later ones.
Has anyone heard any new news about the Saiyuki OVA??

No I've tried trawling the net and there doesn't seem to be any more news on the OVA that I could find. Yes the later episodes are much better, and I really will have to think about getting them on discs as well as Animax has just finished airing the Gunlock episodes. I so love the Runaway Hakkai, ep. Sanzo in an apron. Shahrazad is really upset about what happened to Hazel, and still looks at me as if it's my fault and that I can go fix him! Well, I suppose christmas is soon-ish.

And the ending of the runaway Hakkai episode was perfect too. Between Hakkai finally indulging himself, the pranks Hakkai left behind to show how angry he was and the duos attempts at cleaning and cooking and then hearing Hakkai laugh (That in itself was a little scary.), and then to top everything off Sanzo in a frilly apron, it was the perfect filler episode.
For a long time I had missed the episode where Sanzo was kidnapped (it was one of the few times the website that I usually downloaded the raw episodes from didn't put it up) There was a website that put up a photo gallery of each episode, but she was way behind. I had read the description of the episode on JTTR, but that was all. Me-Nuriko took pity on me and sent me a DVD with a copy of the episode. The funny thing is the episode with Hakkai and the Sanzo one inspired the first Saiyuki story I ever wrote. More a retelling, but there was a teeny tiny bit of original content to it.

Oh yes, I was so happy when I saw them and really shocked. I guess they plan on finishing Gunlock, even though the *licensed* DVD's will be coming out soon.
Did you also see that SpA released the first episode of the OVA, the original one? I am just waiting for the download to finish so I can watch it. I'm dying to see how much it changed, or didn't, from the series. AND, even though the voices for the other three will be different, I will happily be listening to Ishida Akira, ;D and trying to imagine someone else as Sanzo, Gojyo and Goku.

UMMM, jeep's transformation, Ensui really nasty, a scene similar to Yaone's intro, and no, I do not like the *original* voices (well, except Hakkai which doesn't sound all that different, he got the voice down from the start.) I also love the gay Sanzo jokes because he is a monk. OK, must go and watch the rest. ;D

It really is fun to watch this since it feels like a whole new episode and not just a rehashing of the episodes we have already seen. Yes, there are parts that are familiar, but they are used with different characters and feel new because of it. The characters look a little different, but not enough that it is bothersome, though it is hard to go back to Gojyo's *puffy* pants. (I really need to go back into the manga and find the first place they disappeared.) The gay Sanzo jokes were because they were traveling without a female. The voices weren't too bad as you got used to them, though Sanzo's just didn't seem to fit. It ended with a nice cliff- hanger and I hope they don't take too long to sub-title the next part. Poor Jeep.
Edit: In the manga, Gojyo's puffy pants disappeared at the beginning of the RELOAD manga, though they were seen again in the chapter where the Sanzo party fought against themselves. In the anime, his jeans first made their appearance in the movie Requiem (he started out in the puffy ones and halfway through they were tan jeans.) He started out with the dark jeans in the beginning of RELOAD anime. It's weird looking at the manga with them fighting Kami-sama and seeing the puffy pants and the anime where he has the jeans. It's so nice having a day off to do this fun but meaningless research. ;D

For anyone that hasn't seen it yet, Ani-Kraze has finally finished subbing Gunlock. The last 5 episodes were posted in the last several days.
Has anyone heard any information about when the second part of the Saiyuki OVA might be posted? I really am dying to see the remainder of it.
