Aaah... That's interesting. My translater of the Japanese manga must have missed that. (Or I forgot?) Thank you. That was very interesting.

The Burial Arc sure gives a great deal of character and background information, i.e. as far as the relationships between the characters are involved.
It's quite amusing to know that Sanzo, who more or less rants about not being attached and all voluntarily binds himself to Goku and Hakkai by taking responsibility for the two.

OptiMoose, the episode I mean is the one where Gojyo and Hakkai meet their friend TonPu(?) in the desert. Yaone has gone into the camp to see why Demons have been vanishing. When Hakkai figures out she is the one captured, he plans to rescue her alone. The others volunteer to help, without him even asking.
And Sanzo is constantly complaining about the responsibility of Goku and Hakkai. Me attatched, never.

That's not a 'canon' episode... though, seeing as to how the characters are constructed, anything but helping each other would surprise me. Now, ASKING for help, that is a very different matter. I think they all have a very distinctive habit of not being a team quite yet. I mean, that's one of the points of the entire story, showing how a rather lose band of friends/buddies is formed into a tight-knit unit. At least, if you believe Kanzeon-sama. Yup. Sanzo's a hypocrite. I think he's one of the caretaking kind of persons. No matter how hard he tries to 'stop worrying' over others. He always had someone "to care for" with Koumyou Sanzo, and the easy with which he slipped back into the caretaker role with Goku just proves this.

ok, ok, no drooling allowed. ;D We are supposed to be Adults.
It's a little more masculine than I would have expected her to draw him, but I certainly don't mind.
Thanks for sharing. ;D

Drooling is an adult thing to do. I mean kids don't look at other kids and stop coherent thought... Where was I again, and did any of you guys see that picture of Hakkai get taken from one page to another?

Hehe... drooling can't be wrong. Well, I was surprised a bit, too. But I don't really complain. His face is somewhat wider than I thought, but I like the extra 'sharpness'. Makes him look a bit more mature, less 'teenagerish' compared to the eternally-young manga version. I think I'm going to buy photo-printer paper and print out that piccy in near photo quality sometime soon.

Not a bad idea about the printer quality paper to print it out on. Now that just might make my Husband jealous. ;D ;D
I liked the older look too. It feels more like what he would look like at the end of Gunlock and the seiyuu voice goes with THAT face more than a younger one. Ok, I won't deny drooling too! ;D
Rhoda, what picture of Hakkai?

I don't really care whether its anime or manga, they both have their good points and as long as I get my Saiyuki fix, I am a happy little obsessed fangirl. Most of the time there isn't any major differences anyway and the anime seems to (mostly) just add to the manga Did you ever get that OAV? I got it a little over a year ago from WinMX. Its not that great, I mean its Saiyuki and all so its good in that respect but my copy definitely sux (well worth the months it took to download in dribs and drabs though...). The picture quality and the sound quality was poor on my copy, then again, what do i really expect for 195 megs and an hours running time... The voices sucked. The only character with the right voice (bearing in mind this was before the series of course) was Hakkai. Everyone else was just plain wrong. Well, Sanzo's voice wasn't too bad but Goku and Gojyo... *shudder* The worst part of my copy is that it was the ONLY copy I have ever seen on WinMX and the only copy I have seen anywhere as a matter of fact and it is covered in Korean subs... Shame that... Hmm... Did you guys know there is also ANOTHER movie other than Requiem? Saiyuki: Kibou no Zaika Kanzeon Bosatsu has interrupted Sanzo's journey to the West. She explains that the Pearl Jade has gone missing from heaven. Pearl Jade will grant whatever one wishes, but with horrible consecuences. It's crucial for the Sanzo Party to find it before it falls on evil's hand. I got this information here geocities.com/youkai669/dvd.htmlNow... If only I can find a copy...Somewhere... Anywhere...

That is the interactive movie. It sucks, except for three or four really great and amusing scenes (like Sanzo refusing to do Kanzeon's mission and Kanzeon changing their minds quickly by threatening to cash their credit card). The voice actors did a great job, though (same as in the series). BTW, a little fun thing concerning Sanzo&Goku: Have you ever wondered why Sanzo bitches about how only Goku is allowed to call him "sanzo" so 'familiarly'? Well, when Sanzo told Goku his name, Goku first understood it as 'san zou' (translates as 'three elephants', indicated by different a kanji). And who knows, maybe while Goku meanwhile does use the correct name, it's very well possible that Sanzo still hears himself being called 'elephant'

Pity... I would still like to get it though. Cool about Goku misunderstanding Sanzo's name I think I had vaguely heard something like that somewhere but am not entirely sure. Probably was either ages ago or just wasn't paying attention. *grins* Will remember this time though *looks at watch* even though it IS three in the morning and my brain is about fried...

OptiMoose, still no Saiyuki OVA in the mail. Have left an Email for them and am waiting for a reply.
Zelgadis55- I have a couple of places that supposedly sell the interactive DVD. It runs about $10.00, but I don't know what the quality is. I'll find the sites if you are interested.
Printed out the Sanzo picture onto regular paper. Even that looks nice. Paul even complimented the picture. ;D

Yes, there are a lot of people who are waiting for it. You know, there's another thing I noticed while working through the manga (Me-Nuriko: Still haven't found Sanzo calling his gun anything else but 'weapon/gun'.), is that the amount of alcohol consumed is thrice as high in the anime compared to the manga. Remember the drinking contest? Sanzo drank a full bottle of 'monkey vine', and then several bottles of sake during the contest. Sake usually has a minimum of 17vol% (like liquer). Unless he's a regular drinker of the stuff, that amount of alcohol should sent him off into alc poisoning. Now, in the manga, the group of eight contestants consumed eight bottles of sake altogether, with no alcohol consumption before. With that amount of alcohol in their bodies, they would be sick as dogs the day after, but still alive, and they should still have been able to stand/move by the time of Kougaiji's attack. Though, I don't want to know how Sanzo came down from the roof again without breaking his neck in his condition.
