Again I feel wierd... while I did Round Robin in High School with my friends it was in a original universe. It was fun to see what type of plot twists and wrenches in my plans my friends would write in each section. I would often sit down and do my section (handwritten and total unedited of course) before I did my home work each day. There was a certain delight when some how managed to get two entries in a day.
In college, I tried to do the letter exchange with a two friends but... they never really got into it I guess. All of those stories are waiting on their replies. *sighs*
This isn't to say my earlier stories weren't influenced by tv and reading. Also, me and my brothers did play pretend as our favorite tv series and movies. We use to play millinuem falcon in the car pretending cars on the high way were tie fighters flipping imaginary switches to destroy them. ^^ Also, played airwolf in the car too.

Um...heh...I didn't know it was fanfiction until I discovered the internet. I was a major ST: Voyager fan when I was younger and I started writing stuff then because they couldn't come out with the books fast enough. I don't know how old I was...maybe 10 or 11 years old...maybe younger.
No, I haven't seen Voyager in years. No, I don't read the books anymore (one was so poorly written I stopped reading them). And no, I don't have that fic anymore - I came across the last remaining copy about a year ago and burned it after reading it and seeing how pathetic I was. Wish I could do that with some of my others...

awww.... I still have the ratty pages of "The Story" as we called it. It brings back found memories even though it reads like some dime store novel.

I suppose I should expect so much from my friends... it's just they're not even interested. At all. Except for one, a Japanese girl who loves manga, but she's not interested in fanfiction and doesn't understand why people would write it. Oh well. I have you guys.

JeiC Keep your old stories. It's not only nice to see how far you have come since you first started writing, it's also nice to re-read them and as Salma wrote, recall fond memories of times and friends. Twenty years from now, you will appreciate them for the warm memories they bring, believe me. I threw out those letters of mine in a moment of newly married sanity and have missed them since. Unoriginal or not, they were a link with friends no longer available, or no longer insane enough, to share my new passions with me.
As kitsune-oni says, we have each other.

As kitsune-oni says, we have each other. And that is important.

kitsune-oni I couldn't survive with no internet at home. I now wonder how my older children did, before they finally talked me into DSL. The research ability alone is great for all the papers they have to write. And Mom on-line is fun too.
One of the greatest benefits of getting into fanfiction is getting to meet people. Not only to share interests, but words of comfort and encouragement too. You are a special group of people.

Kitsune: Oi, know what, we make that first gathering in Italy and "visitate" your mom, so she sees we're all nice people and then talk her into giving you online access from home, too. cesmith: That's the good thing about this being amateur/fan writings... all of us have an occupation outside of writing, and this way, a lot of experience with the most different topics comes together.
