Genre: Boy's Love, Romance, mystery

It's Crack! You have just introduced me to pure fan girl crack. it isn't the boys love and cute gravitation style of it. The second episode was of a pair of cos-playing boys getting chased by a mob because their mischievous blonde pimp friend set them up. Wow now you've done it must get more.......
On thinking about it memo to self- stay far far away from this fandom it is going to get messy.

*chuckles* Well, it certainly is a rather amusing series, and you do have the hot body-tobody and guy kisses guy scene. All canon, of course. Here are two other series I came to like: Name: AIR Genre: uhhh... general/mystery/paranormal, I'd say Warnings: paranormal, death, religious issues, substance abuse issues Summary: The show follows the "adventures" of a young man who gets himself stranded in a small town. He has the ability to use telekinesis (or "magic" a it is called there) on small items and hopes to become famous with his ability one day. As he gets to know the other inhabitants of the village, it soon turns out that not everything is what it seems to be. Why you like it: The show has a great intro, and I had to laugh when the lead characters starts his first things with "Harahetta". Outside of that, the -superficially - boring and standard characters reveal that there's more about them than meets the eye. Name: Lime iro Ryuukita Genre: shonen, alternate reality, humor, "animated objects created by the mind" Warnings: Don't watch if you expect a serious show, with serious characters who make any sense Summary: The show follows the adventures of a battleship in the Meji-era (or what passes as the Meji-era in that universe). It's not an ordinary ship - it can fly. Also, the crew is no ordinary crew. Aboard the vessel are five young women, who are able to create solid "fighters" out of their mental energy, and fight against the enemy with them. Of course, the enemy has similar abilities... The team's leader is a young officer, and it's needless to say that all five of the girls fall into love with their superior officer. Why you like it: Hard to say. I shouldn't like it, because it's outright silly and the characters border caricature. But maybe that's why I like the show - it's always good for a good laugh, the enemies are really refreshing (can you say "henchmen"? ), and there are a couple of rather interesting concepts behind all the trashy overlay. Oh, and I really like the opening music.

Title: DNAngel
Genre: Drama, Magic, Romance, Schoolkids
Warnings: Anyone know any warnings? I'm at a loss
Summary: This is the story of a 14 year old boy, Daisuke Niwa, who turns into Phantom Thief Dark when he becomes enamored with a certain local girl that he is fond of. Poor little Daisuke is sucked into this tale of thieving, and the only thing that will return his life to normal is to steal the heart of the woman he loves. Too bad that the object of his affections only has eyes for his other, more dangerous self! Daisuke, or as his alter-ego, Dark steals artwork that have some sort of cursed power and cause troubles for the town and its people. Once the works of art are obtained, their power is sealed by him or his family (Daisuke’s grandfather and mother). *((Summary curtesy of ADVfilms))*

Name: Scrapped Princess Genre: Action/ Sword and Sorcery/ Angst/ Humor Brief Summary: Twins are born to the King. Prophecy tells that the girl twin will destroy the world when she turns 16. Therefore, she must be killed. The Dethroned Princess, or cast off (Scrapped) Princess is protected by her adopted older Brother and Sister and many others who they meet along their travels. It starts out on the lighter side but gets more involved and serious as you near the final confrontation. Warnings: Character Death. Not much else that I can think of. Why do I like it? The anime grabbed me, even starting with the theme, *Brand New Day*. Great song, light, bouncy and full of hope. The interaction between the characters is fun/warm/caring. The villians/assassins have special abilities that are interesting. The *Bad Guys* reasons for wanting the Princess dead are presented in as valid an argument as the Heroes for wanting to keep her alive, so the question as you near the end of the series is, which side is really correct? Should she live or die? Originally we had downloaded a fansubbed version off of BoxTorrents, but I just found out that the first DVD of the series will be released next month. The Japanese Seiyuu are really wonderful. Big brother Shannon's voice almost rivals Ishida Akira's voice.

=O I'm surprised nobody's mentioned this yet:
Name: Excel Saga (also a manga, but there are quite a few differences. I'd have to recommend both)
Genre: Insanity. Pure and simple.
Warnings: XD See "genre"... actually, nothing too bad... until the 27th episode, that contains everything that the animators wished they could put into the series, but because of censorship reasons, never could. (It was never aired... but I think it's on the final DVD)
Summary: The group known as ACROSS, which is made up of two girls (one possibly the most insane teenager in the world, the other an anemic alien PuuChuu princess), a dog (aka Mince/Menchi or Emergency Ration) and a super cool overlord (Il Palazzo) plan on taking over the world and making it better, one city at a time. [XD; At least... that's what I think it's about... it gets confusing at points...]
Why you like it: It's humor at it's best! There's wit, slapstick, weirdness, etc., without being corny.
I hope you like it!

well i think the ground has been covered...i'd have to agree/second some of the choices mentioned..saiyuki, wolf's rain, witch hunter robin, getbackers(although i've only started watching that, hooray for guys in black ummm Akabane), ruruoni kenshin(or samurai x) here's one that my girl loves cardcaptor sakura : suitable for families about a girl who unwittinly releases some magicalcards and she just has to find them all back again. its very cute and fluffly but actually quite bearable... one that i must reccomend(err spelling ) title: Samurai 7 genre : action story: akira kurosawa'a 7 samurai given a futuristic rendering. there are 25 episodes. story: a girl, her sister and a fellow villager venture into the cities to find 7 samurai who will fight on behalf of their village against the Nobuseri (the bad guys). the story itself is quite faithful to the original film, and the futuristic settings, which include the mechanical samurai works well and doesn't detract from main plot. the characters are pretty cool....look out for Kyuzo (a hot blond double katana wielding swordsman), Kanbei Shimada (the leader type) and Heihachi-who's cute and loves his rice. there is also humour in this and lots of other elements that will satisfy most anime fans. why i like it ....well .... men going on a quest, odds stacked against them, .....err men wielding swords....what's NOT to like! hope at least someone agrees somewhere. much love zan

Hrm... I think I'm going to rec one of of my past obsessions. ^^
Name: Candidate for Goddess (also known as Megami Kouhosei and Pilot Candidate) Genre: sci-fi Brief Summary: In the future, an alien creature named VICTIM hs wreaking havoc on our universe. Only pilots can battle VICTIM... but then, only boys can be pilots. This anime mainly follows new candidates working their way to the top. Warnings: brief nudity, language, character death Why do I like it: Oh, man... there are a lot of things that factor into my love for this show. It seems to be an either "love it or hate it" deal. The animation itself is questionable; the mix if computer animation and "cell" animation isn't done all that well. But why I like it... put simply, I adore the characters. The cast is huge: five lower candidates, five higher candidates, five pilots, and a few key staff members. In addition, each candidate and pilot is given a female counterpart.
I'm not even normally one for sci-fi, but this one intrigues me. Only boys can be candidates, as only they can have EX. Girls generally don't; only one exception is the pilot, Teela. So the cast is balanced with just as many guys as there are girls--and each character is distinctive and interesting. There's Zero, our main character, who's loud and brash and constantly forgets the rules, but he's also very determined and his intentions are (usually) good. Then there's his rival Hiead, who comes off as utterly irredeemable. Then you have their classmates, Clay, Roose, and Yamagi, who all prove to play important roles... and the repairers (their female counterparts) for all five of them. I just find the interaction irresistable.
And, if it means anything, the creator of the manga is she who also created DNAngel. So, of course, the character design is gorgeous, too, and you simply know the characters are going to have strange dynamics.

Well this just started to air on animax-asia, and I actually started to watch it cos the Boss( otherwise known as the Daughter) wanted me to watch it with her. Title : Tsubasa Chronicles Genre: Fantasy Brief summary : A princess loses her memory and her soul and her childhood friend(beau) has to travel with her across time planes and dimensions to get them back. Warnings: None I don't think. We're only on episode 8 at the moment. Its a very sweet story. With loveable characters you may recognise from Cardcaptor, xxxHolic, Magic Knight Rayearth, amongst others. Brought out by the Clamp.(or whoever remains from the original group). (Admittedly) I also started to watch it because the guy who voices Touya(Sakura's brother) is Miki Shinichiro, who's voice I fell in love with when I watched Samurai 7. Another one to watch with the children. Title : Gakuen Alice (or Alice Academy) Genre : Fantasy Not sure. Set in present day, I think. Brief summary : Its about the goings on of the students and the teachers at a school for children with special abilities. A cross between Hogwart's and Prof. Xavier's school I suppose. Warnings : None. Why I started to watch...actually, Akira Ishida (playing a teacher, Narumi-sensei, no less) and Miki Shinichiro are some of the voices in this series about growing up and friendships. I didn't think that I was actually going to like it. But the storylines and plots are actually quite good. Plus its something me and Shahrazad can share, and that is always something good.

I used to watch Card Captor Sakura with my kids about 10 years ago. I think I liked the show as much as they did. I just downloaded the first episode to watch it in Japaneses because I have never had the chance to hear the original Seiyuu and I was told that it was cut and rearranged for the US audiences.
GetBackers are another series that I would recommend, but it is one place I don't really care for chibis. Though Ginji's personality fits them I think they over use it for him.
Recommendation:
Series: Ouran High School Host Club
Genre: As therhoda would say, Pure Crack.
Warnings: Ummm, sexual innuendos. This series is currently being aired in Japan so you can only watch it as it is being subbed. We are up to episode 17.
Summary: A poor scholarship student at a High School for wealthy kids accidentally breaks an extremely expensive vase and has to join the Host Club to work off the debt. The surprise ending to episode one was wonderfully worked. Friendships develop and you really grow to like all the characters.
I would also recommend the manga too. Though very similar it's fun to hold the story in your hands.

MY son likes both shows. He says they are aimed toward college aged students.
Honey and Clover is a slice of life anime. Romance/comedy/drama of a group of kids in an Art school.
Paradise Kiss is about a girl who drops out of HS to become a model for some fashion design students doing their senior projects in college. It is mostly a romance/drama (a little comedy thrown in) with some mature topics (nudity/a sex scene).
