Hello and welcome. I'm so glad to see a new member on the message board. It's been way too quiet here for too long.
What is your fandom (Though from your name I might guess Inu Yasha?)? Anime interests?
I write Saiyuki mainly (under the name of cesmith on ff.net)but have also posted a Diablo 2 story and a Weiss Kreuz.
Again, welcome to the MB.

Thanks for the Welcome!! I am glad to be here!! I read all kinds of fandom although I am a big Inuyasha fan. I would love to read your stories, just tell me where to go. I read alot on ff.net and other sites. I would like to write so if you have any pointers for me I would appreciate it.
I found this message board by trying to get to animespiral so I am a little confused at which message board this is. Is it anime spirals or ff?
Thank You again for the welcome!! Hope we can talk alot on here!!

It's not really a message board that is linked to either fanfiction site, just a lot of fans that got together to discuss anime, manga, writing and related topics.
I started reading fanfiction on anime spiral and then discovered fanfiction.net. All my stories are posted on fanfiction under cesmith. As I said, most of them are Saiyuki. I started writing because of the challenges posted here. I enjoy writing but I don't seem to be overwhelmed with story ideas like so many other writers are.
As for pointers, there might be some information in the fanfiction section under helpdesk one. The one thing I really like is having a beta reader (or two or three) to read over your stories. They can catch incorrect spelling, grammatical errors, ask questions to fill in gaps in the story and stroke our egos when things are good.

Thank you for clearing that up!! I was really confused about where this message board belongs. I did find your stories on ff!! Duh on me for not realizing you told me where they were in your first post!! Brain freeze I suppose!! I do not know the manga Suiyuki but I did read a few of your stories this morning. They are very good!!! I have heard of the Weiss Kreuz but have not seen it or read it , the same for Diablo.
I see that you are from upstate NY!! I am too!! Don't find too many people, especially close to me, that is interested in mangas and anime. I am sure there is they just aren't around me. LOL!! That is why I decided to join the message board to find people to talk to with the same interest. I will go and look at the help desk then maybe I can write a story of my own. Great to hear from you again!! Hope we can talk soon!!

My family (well, 2 of my sons and husband, my daughter dislikes anime and my other son couldn't care about it) and I watch a lot of anime. They are about the only ones that I can share my anime enjoyment with, other than people I have met online. My husband even used to watch raw episodes of Saiyuki RELOAD Gunlock with me when I couldn't wait until they were subbed. Saiyuki is a very enjoyable anime and the Japanese seiyu are terrific. I like the English Voice Actors of the first two seasons (Gensomaden Saiyuki) but then another company released the second and third seasons (technically they are different series, but it continues the guys journey to stop the resurrection of Gyumaoh) and they are just too terrible to listen to (we complain a lot about them on the MB).
Thank you for the compliment on my stories. Some of them are a little dark, with character deaths and suicide, but I also enjoy the more traditional Hurt/comfort stories and comedy.
I live outside of Washingtonville. It's a nice place to live most of the time, except for the winter.

Thats great that you can get some of your family to watch the animes with you. My husband will sometimes but usually I watch them by myself. My girls call me an anime freak!! LOL!! I do watch alot of anime. I am gonna have to read of the Suiyuki so I can find out what its all about. Always looking out for good anime. LOL!!
I didn't know where Washingtonville was so I had to look it up on a map. Come to find out you aren't but 5 hours from me. I am in Gouverneur. Not a bad little town either. Winter doesn't really bother me as long as it is not so cold you can't go outside. I am orginally from Arkansas and my husband is from here. I lived in NY for about 15 years now I believe. It is great talking to you!! Hope to hear from you soon!!

My husband and I have very similar tastes in anime. I don't usually watch the mech ones with him and he doesn't watch the boys love series that I like. Right now we are downloading approximately 8 series, not to mention the ones from last season that we are trying to catch up on. Then throw in Dr. Who and The Adventures of Sarah Jane and my Bleach episodes and we are currently falling way behind. There's never enough time.
As for manga I read over 20 different series. We joke that our manga library nearly rivals the manga section in Barnes and Noble. I pre-order most of the manga online through rightstuf so I get a nice discount for most of them. With three people reading different series, it amounts to a lot of reading material.
We also get The Anime Channel on Demand so we can watch dubbed series too. There were a few series that hadn't interested us until we gave them a try in English (Tenjho Tenge and Coyote Ragtime).
We have quite a few anime figurines from many series and from the Final Fantasy video games, and one of my pride and joys is my pin collection. Kanshu sent me some wonderful Saiyuki Gaiden pins but I also have some of the guys from Gensomaden Saiyuki, Negima, GetBackers, FruitsBasket, Yu Yu Hakusho, HunterXHunter, Tsubasa, Bleach, Weiss Kreuz, Kenshin, Dr. Who and Tenjho Tenge. I bought most of these from Oktakon, a HUGE anime convention in Baltimore. We won't be able to go this year since my daughter is getting married next month.

Man am I jealous of your anime collection. I have been wanting to start a manga library myself. I have watched that Bleach anime myself. I need that anime on demand channel. Hmmmmmmm I wonder if my satellite company gets it. I do have the Inuyasha series and the Ranma1/2 series. I have figurines from Inuyasha and some of the manga. So as you can see I am really jealous of your collection!!
When is that convention? I would love to go to a anime convention. I just don't know where they are held. Congratulations on your daughters up-coming marriage!!! That is just wonderful.

Otakon is August 8th-10th. It's not the tickets that are so expensive, it's the hotel and the food for 3 (my 16 year old loves going with my husband and I. He usually hangs out in the gaming room.) Here is a link for it...
www.otakon.com/default2.asp
We've been collecting manga and figurines for about 4 years now. We've had to slow down because we are running out of space to display them. I want to get shadow boxes so they won't get so dusty and will look nicer when displayed. It's really hard keeping the little pieces clean and dust free. I have a special figurine collection of all the different Godzillas from the movies. I think there are 16 and I haven't even been able to put them together yet.
Some cable companies offer the anime on demand, others have an anime channel with set times for viewing the anime episodes. I like on demand because I tend to watch things late at night.

Thanks for the information. I went to the site and it sounds like alot of fun!! ;D I bet it does get expensive especially with all the food. I am gonna see if I can check this convention out. I have wanted to go to one for awhile now. I have just started collecting anime stuff in the last year or so. I hope one day mine will be as extensive as yours!! I am gonna check out my sattelite company to find out about that anime channel. I watch anime late at night myself so hopefully I can get that anime on demand. I really do Thank You for all the information you have given me. I am really happy to talk to someone who shares an interest in anime like I do. Yashalove

The year I worked at Barnes and Noble was great. We were able to get food and drinks for 50% off (the store is a few blocks away from the convention center). Last year we ate mostly sandwiches from the lobby cafe. They were delicious but expensive. There are McDonalds and delis and pizza places too, it's just that they are always so packed with people that I feel like I am wasting my convention time eating. The rooms were about 250 for four people (the less expensive rooms go quick, usually in a couple of hours after registration begins). The convention is well worth the expense. Depending on who the Japanese seiyu is this year, we might still try to go and just cut down on souvenir spending (Impossible but...)
We're really lucky because we have a Kinokunya near us and a few Japanese import stores a short drive away. Between the convention and these stores, we have a terrific selection.

Dang!! What I wouldn't give to live near a japanese import store!! They would probably make a killing off of me!!! LOL!! If I can swing I am gonna try and go the the convention myself. I would like to check one out.
I really appreciate all the help you have givin me on the anime stuff. Since I have gotten more interested in it I have wanted to read different animes and increase my anime stuff.
I really enjoy talking to you!!

I was checking out the Otakon page and saw that they have announced the Japanese seiyuu that will be appearing, the gentleman that plays L in DeathNote, Kappei Yamaguchi. I don't know much of his other works. I also was checking out the vendors in the dealers room and the Kinokuniya booth is manned by the people from the store in the Palisades Center in West Nyack, the store I always visit. I really want to go. I'm going to have to figure something out!

I have heard of the Kappei guy. I think he does one of the characters in Inuyasha. Don't quote me on that but the name is really familiar. I do know that anime Deathnote. I watch it alot. I see alot the anime I know on Adult Swim. That's just great that a store dealer is gonna be there that you go to alot. I know what you mean about wanting to find a way to go. Thats what I am gonna try to do to. Hopefully we will both be able to find a way to go. ;D I will keep my fingers crossed for ya!! Yashalove
