Hello, hello. ^^
I go by WildeLamassu (WL is more convenient), and I commit unduly philosophical atrocities in the Saiyuki fandom. I may branch out in the future.
I write gen with the occasional trip into boys' love.
My current works on fanfiction.net are all oneshots. Instead of posting their ff.dot summary here, I'll blurb something coherent:
"Questions of Eve"--Hakkai and Tenpou chat over Milton somewhere inside a gauzy metaphor for Hakkai's brain. The issue is responsibility. First fic/unashamed cliches.
"Secondhand"--Konzen doesn't smoke. Tenpou does. In the words of Wonka, "Strike that! Reverse it!" in Gensomaden. This story attempts to explain how and/or why.
"Theogony"--Saiyuki is a myth. Other myths exist. Others will be created. An experimental discussion of the -ikkou and religion.
"The Morning After"--At some point, "Gonou-the-genocide" had to wake up and feel those hyphens, like limiters. This story investigates the synthesis of the philosopher and the murderer.
"A Different Perspective"--Trashy pre-LJ double-drabble. Sanzo decides to try out Hakkai's monocle. I would change the final "Hakkai's" to "another's," if I didn't feel like it was cheating.
That's it, for now. More forthcoming, if I can find the time between finals and the new semester. ^^;
I enjoy discussions of all sorts, be they absurd, deeply thought-provoking, or both at once (the best kind). My AIM is "WildeLamassu," and I love to procrastinate. Feel free to drop in on me or my LJ, if you have the time.
(I also like asiago cheese, Freudian slips, and most anything involving the vice that is bishounen.)

Welcome! I've read some of your non boy's love stories and was quite impressed. Your writing is thought provoking, and I like the questions you raise. I'm looking forward to your posts, and a lot of good discussions.

*decides coffee cake is too prosaic*present's Barrie's crododile instead, hoping he'll help you find some time* Greetings! It's grand to see you here, and I look forward to grilling you about some of your stories. In the meantime, a few more ordinary questions: What is your name? Oh, wait, that's your handle and it's the title of this boardspace... What is your quest? Oops! I guess that would be similar to an aim, in which case the answer is the same as the first one... What is your favorite colour? Hah! That's one you haven't answered yet. Of course, it's also a rather dull question I suppose. Perhaps asking after your prefered philosophical treatment of self-conception might be more interesting. Or your major... Yep, okay, that's my question: what's your major, since writing seems to be something at which you're adept, but in my field of experience, there are a great many majors which require that one be deft with a pen (or keyboard). *sorry for the length. I get wordy when I'm happy.

Hello... *waves wildly*
Haha, glad to see a fellow 383shipper dwelling here as well. Shall we take over the world with our 383 lurb?
Nah, scratch that. Just joking *terribly aware of sharp glances directed her way*
Well anyways, welcome and enjoy your stay. ;D Have fun!!

*drowns pleasantly in welcomes* Thanks, everyone--what a comfy place. ^^ OptiMoose--Yay for genfic! And I just know we're going to argue about the social function of slash...^^; (it'll be good-natured, I'm sure) Me-Nuriko: Don't expect too much, but thank you! Warning: reviews cause much snoopy-dancing. Salmastryon--Who isn't, is the more important question. ^^ treneka--English and Philosophy. Can you tell? rasinah--Shh, it's s'poseda be a secret! ;D

Rasinah and WildeLamassu: I feel a war (or at least fanart of one) coming on... (Fall back! The 58ers are pushing over the hill! (Don't -say- that, man! We've got backup artillery! (You don't mean... (Yes! PRETTY WOMEN! Gojyo *can't* resist!) ... Okay stopping now ;D
Anywho, I think your summaries on this board are even more intriguing than the ones you put online. Darn you *shakes fist* ...and all that Karot's-jealous-type stuff.

Now, now. I squee for /anything/ with an 8. Especially reincarnation! K10. I assume you've read Nightfall's "October" and "Halloween"? *just dies*
Although...a fanart of the 38-58 battle would be quite frightening, rather pretty, and much appreciated. ^^
(By the way, did you know the-crazy-connector-that-is-permetaform adores you, and recs your fics practically once a week? ^^)

Anyway, WL, hurray for philosophy majors! And now to grill you on the stories.
Question 1 (Questions of Eve): Is the soul reincarnated an analogy for the fundamental perception of self, or an embodiement of internal critique? Tenpou could hardly be called Hakkai's conscience, and yet there is that sort of vibe between them. Care to elaborate?

WL: Yes, yes I have. I was a puddle of goo on my chair after reading "October" and "Halloween" did it worse. Ooh. Actually, since I've got some free time coming up, I've been kinda wondering about how to bring about a 38-58 war type fanart. Hm. (I see chanting crowds, a leering Gojyo, a half-naked Sanzo, and a very frightened Hakkai...) And I gotta finally ink the stupid Drinking Contest one as well (hee, that's been sitting around for months...) Yes, I have gotten notice from Permetaform that I've been rec'd. Makes me blush like a madwoman ;D I didn't know about the frequency, however. Aww wow.
Salma: o.O; if looks could kill... *ducks under pillow* Hee, actually a chibi-ized little Hakkai-tug-of-war would be kinda cute. ;D *gives carrot to your poor bunny* Violence is not the answer...unless you're Sanzo, of course. Oh, geez, was -that- ever another 38-58 war image title ;D
Treneka: ...o.O; woo. I'd like to see the answer to that question, too.

I'm using this evening to finally catch up on fandom-related absurdities, which my holidays tend to devour. ^^
That said, I'm trippingly delighted by questions, especially incisive and thoughtful ones. I tend to get reviews from a rather small group of consistent readers, and--being the feedback addict that I am--well, humoring a WildeLamassu causes her to write faster, yes? *grins*
When I wrote Questions, I was trying to dissect by dividing; ripping off the Rule of Three, Freud-Plato, and (more Gaiden-ly) the Trinity, I split Hakkai into three distinct elements, each of which has an impact on the story.
The first and most important segment is the house itself; the surroundings are Hakkai as he exists. Like a dreamer without knowledge of such, Hakkai is mostly unaware that he is is the one censoring his own thoughts (creating this environment). Hakkai-as-a-mind is the superego, the rational, and the Father, depending on which metaphor you'd like to run with; this is the "real," controlling part of Hakkai. All the physical elements and impacts of the story are his doing, especially the light quality, the Spartan surroundings, and the fog.
The second, the "glinting man," is intentionally "false." This is Hakkai as he envisions himself--the reader at the table, all bitter guilt and reasons compounded. He sees himself, obviously, as the Fallen, but doesn't grasp beyond that. He would correspond to the sensitive, the ego, the Son--his conception of himself is preoccupied by free will, whereas his actual self is limiting it.
The third, Tenpou, is another creation; he isn't "real" either, so it's not so much a reincarnation issue as it is an internal dialogue. He's more a convenience for Hakkai-as-mind to use to represent certain character traits and situations; he's almost an upside-down analog to Gonou. As a component, his sensual arrogance informs his role as the One-Who-Will-Fall, an integral part of the Hakkai-psyche. "Tenpou" wants to be a conscience, more than he is; he behaves like an uncle who oversteps his boundaries, trying to kick some living into the other two. He regrets Hakkai-as-self-image's suffering, but makes a point of showing that he wouldn't act differently if given a second chance. Hence the title and the apple. ^^ He corresponds to the id, the appetitive, and, perhaps conversely, the Ghost.
Together, the Three Aspects *wicked grin* juggle responsibility and redemption among themselves. Which is inherently pointless--they're all just parts of the same. They really are a Trinity: "a unity of one."
See what you unleashed? Oh, goodness, don't ask me things. I get far too excited. *facepalms*

Ah! I had completely missed the overlying conception of surroundings as self - how I managed to forget my Freud so completely I do not know. Once that was explained, the trinitarian quandary/mystery (depending on your upbringing) becomes so much clearer and the playground of this particular mind make so much more sense. Even so, one wonders in this scenario whether the omission of Nii might connote some idea of the strength of Hakkai's denial for the true evil inherrent within the overmind of the being. After all, Gonou's actions, while radical, did at least have explanation. Nii is to all appearances a true sociopath with no justification for his actions save a personal desire to perform them. Could it be that this is the dark secret that would constitute one straw too many? Is the trinity only stable in its steadfast denial of the fourth element?
When considered from a numerological standpoint, this gets even deeper (number of the divine vs. number of the mortal stuff - i.e. heavier than basalt)... but I'll shut up now because I'm on my way to church and I should know better than to post when I've been meditating on my twisted little religion. *laughs* Thanks for the answer. More questions to come.
