Treneka,
Don't know what happened to my welcome post, I assume it died during one of my computer crashes a week or so ago.
The reason I was so immediately enamoured of you as a writer is that I read One Flew Over and Gingerbread Men back-to-back, and was impressed to no end at how two such fabulous stories, wildly different in both tone and style, could come from the same author in such a relatively short period of time. That, my friend, is true talent.
I would be happy to beta anything for you, if you like, I can provide you with beta references so you can check my style with other authors.
To weigh in on the One Flew Over issue, I'd also vote to keep them as separate chapters rather than an entirely different posting.

Finally, I am in need of help. I blame it on Wildelamassu. I just finished reading all of her stories for the second time, and in that philosophical mood, wrote a three-page, crack-mad story that I'm debating posting. Is there anyone who'd care to beta it and tell me whether I should even consider letting this thing out in public? First, I'm eye-poppingly flattered (visual reinforcement: O.O) and feeling ridiculously unworthy. ^^;; Secondly, I'm cackling at my muse role. Oh, dear--what havoc have I wrought this time? And, as my post-finale ^^--I'd absolutely /love/ to see/beta this fic-monster we've managed to cook up between us. My e-mail is my username @ yahoo.

Hi all - I'm back from a brief hiatus over the holidays, and dear me did I write, while away from my electric enabler. Anyway, I finally own two books' worth of Saiyuki manga and there is nothing like a lovely picture to stimulate the imagination. Can anyone say, what if a certain white dragon decided he'd rather be a motorcycle... *giggles* Thank heavens they're not real or they'd kill me for that one. Not sure if I'll post it, but oh, it cramped my hand up something fierce. Sorchafyre: *takes a bow* I'm flattered. I just read your 42 Days submission and quite enjoyed it. Your use of framing is a comforting touch and the symbolism of donning a world, a personality and armor all within the same simple garments delighted me. That said, I'd love for you to look something over for me, but am unsure as to a good method. IM me with your thoughts and we'll work it out. Wildelamassu: I've at long last emailed Horsemen to you. The title is wrong and the ending I'm decidedly not happy with, and really your opinion of whether I should post the thing at all would be appreciated. I'm usually a pretty good judge of which of my fics should remain stuck in my computer, but this one... it needs work, but the question is whether it deserves it.

Well, umm. Did anyone beta "One Flew Over"?
If not, and this new "disaster" is anything like that, then I don't think I can help you....too good already. You sit on the clouds with KarotsaMused and OptiMoose....

Hi! I followed the link on your bio here to this forum, and I'd just like to say that I think your ficcies are utterly brilliant. Gingerbread Men is just so cute and entirely in character, and I found it so funny, I was laughing aloud.
One Flew Over, on the other hand, is just as stunning, but in such a bittersweet, broken way. Like elven dreamer said earlier, they're helpless, and it's really sad. I think you've captured the atmosphere very well.

Treneka - Ooh! Crack-madness inspired by WL? If you haven't posted it (I'm too lazy to check before posting this I'm gonna go look inna while) do so now 'cause my curiosity has been piqued! I admit WL's work does strange things to my brain. It's always good to see someone else's cranial discharge

Well, my computer genius husband's absolute abhorrence of all things microsoft is stifling my ability to transfer files. *growls at computer* It's all well and good if you are likewise a computer genius, but I am what might best be classified as "functionally computer illiterate." Oh well.
Until I figure out cross formatting files, I won't be posting that story (since WL offered to beta and I want her to). I do blame WL for Three Sisters, as well, however.
elven-dreamer: EEK! No, I'm not on their level. But I'm all aflutter at the compliment. That Optimoose, though... she's dangerous. Her plotbunnies have fangs.
jackie idaho: Nice to meet you! Glad you like the fics. And yes, I must confess I love having the guys helpless... Vicarious torture is the stuff of which fanfic authors are composed, methinks.

I don't know what word processing software you are using, but I'd recommend StarOffice or OpenOffice (the cost-free version). It can read pretty much every word/exel file, and it also can safe a file in word/excel format. It's available for all platforms, and the latest version can even produce pdf files with no extra costs. As for clouds and levels... seriously, treneka and elven_dreamer, you two are underestimating yourself. Outside of the fact that everyone here's an amateur writer, treneka you write extremly well. I mean, look at your current stories - they are great! And elven_dreamer, your writing is way better than I did when I just started out writing. I mean, everyone here has so much talent, just look at writers like blood_debt and therhoda, or Salmastryon, JeiC and Me-Nuriko. I can't help to be amazed.

I go with Opti on this one. I Run a linux box (thanks to hubby dear) and use open office, it does great you can save a file any way you want and with the newest upgrade they even got a lot more fonts. Take it from someone who hasn't touched the windows machine partition voluntarily in over a year, You'll like it!
The ability to save the same file as a doc. pdf. or the one I use most sxw. which by the way goes natively and beautifully into ff. document manager. Is a great thing.

Hehehehe. terneka, you are surely one of my favourite authors. Just letting you know. I don't claim to be an incredible writer - I can't do that, my little grey brain cells (yes, they do exist, B-D! ) would be disagreeing with my mouth. As usual. But I am in the top English set, and if there's one thing I'm proud of in English, it's my grammar, sentencing and punctuation. And if I'm happy with my essay, I usually don't feel worse when I read some (SOME) of my friends' stuff, because they're grammar is atrocious. Dad tried to get linux working onto the old computer several weeks ago...failing miserably, I might add.... But Microsoft Word seems to work alright for me. I really despise QuickEdit, though.

Thanks to everyone for the technical advice. I've attempted to use it and hopefully WL will email me if it worked. Open Office does have its moments - we'll see if this is one of them. Hmm... on an unrelated note, life decided to kick the living hell out of me this evening, so in typical me fashion, I wrote something deadly sad in an attempt to deal. It's amazing how cathartic it can be to throw stuff down on paper. That said, tomorrow, I am forcing myself to write something happy, because at the moment I feel like I need a teddy bear and a tot of scotch. At Close of Day: www.fanfiction.net/s/2206159/1/

Writing is a good way to deal with things.
I just read your story, and this is a time when I feel like my English isn't enough. All I can say is that I wish with all my heart that you can deal with whatever happened and that you will feel happier soon.
Sorry, I can't express myself better.

*hugs* As Me-Nuriko, I hope that writing the darkness and feelings out of your heart will help you to deal with the present.
Sometimes, writing is all one can do.

Whoo. Glad you got that out - yours is an admirable method of dealing with a bad day. And what a piece to come of it. Words fail at the moment, but that's because I'm still too wrapped up in it to really be articulate. Hm. Let's make this end on a happy note, though. Reread Good Omens. GP is good for you May I say that your comment after "Legacy" gave me a girly moment? How dare you be more eloquent in a review than I am in fiction. Yet another testament to thy greatness, i'faith. Hug a teddy, sip some scotch, and the morning will bring a new start all over again

*group hugs* Thank you all for the support. I'm feeling better today. Life still sucks, but that doesn't mean I have to...wait, that didn't come out quite right, but you know what I mean. So in the vein of pulling myself up by the bootstraps, here's something Karot may be able to lampoon. I owe the S.I. and Canon Sue to Blood-Debt and Elven-dreamer, whose Sue story reminded me how very soul satisfying such things can be. Of course, I agree with Dickenson that it is better to tell things 'slant'. So, Instructions for the Babysitter. www.fanfiction.net/s/2207550/1/ Now, a few more posts, and then I'm off to rejoin Adam, an antichrist, and the angel who did not so much fall as saunter vaguely downwards...
