Well, at present, I've written two. The second was a holiday one-shot written for the pure, unmitigated hell of it. It's a lark and not particularly good, but I giggled too hard imagining it not to write it down. Gingerbread Men: www.fanfiction.net/s/2157767/1/The first fiction I wrote for this fandom is posing me something of a large problem, unfortunately. When I wrote it, it was as the first in a number of explorations of an odd hypothesis - namely that the entire journey west was a figment of the boys' collective imaginations. However, the first in the series turned out rather lovely by itself and now I'm not sure whether to post any additional chapters. I still like the setting and the other anecdotes, but I'm wondering whether they might detract from the first. Things to think about... One Flew Over: www.fanfiction.net/s/2155926/1/

I just read your 'One Flew Over', and what surprised me the most was that earlier today I had started to toy with an idea similar to this. So I was very amused to see that you have already written it. I wrote in my review that I should feel sad, but didn't. I guess that's because I had the idea myself. I like your story very much. Since I haven't read you other anecdotes I don't know how they affect each other, but I'm very curious about them and would really like to read them.

treneka. I must disagree with you. I think Gingerbread Men is quite good. Like you, I giggled a considerable amount while reading it. I like how the recipe for success is distrating Goku and Gojyo with the things they are most interested in, food and you.
One Flew Over was also very good. And unusual. I have to agree with Me-Nuriko about wanting to read your other anecdotes. I would love to see how each of them contributes to the delusion of the journey to the west. I was curious about why each of them were in the sanitorium and how the group was formed, how they found each other.

Me-Nuriko: Hi! Nice to meet you, and yes, I admit I've been secretly reading your mind. *just kidding* In any case, I'm glad you liked it, particularly if you've been mulling over similar ideas. Incidentally, I love your Get Backers works! So a question: given that future anecdotes in the One Flew Over story-line are slightly dependent on an understanding of the setting laid out in the first piece, should I post them as additional chapters, or would a sequel, labeled as such, be a viable option? cesmith: I'm glad you liked Gingerbread Men, and I hadn't thought about the distraction factor, but now that you mention it - good point. My mother and I bake gingerbread every year, and the trick has always been to keep my father and husband out of the kitchen. Ah, the joys of plagiarizing from life...

Gaah!! I haven't said 'Welcome' to you? ´Terribly sorry, I try to greet every new member, but I must have missed that. I must have thought I had already greeted you. Welcome, welcome, welcome. (There, you got three welcome to make it up to you. ) Similar ideas to similar minds, eh? ;D Additional chapters, or a sequel. You said the anecdotes were dependent on 'One Flew Over', so my personal opinion is chapters, since it's (so far) only one chapter. Had it been a longer story I would have said sequel. But, if the anecdotes are very different in style from 'One Flew Over' you might want to call 'One Flew Over' a prologue. It's a little difficult to give advice without having read them, but this is what I think in general. Glad you like my GetBackers fics, and you said earlier you liked 'Cho Hakkai:Murderer?', too. So I'm happy.

I've been told that the best stories come from the everyday descriptions of life.
I would go with the additional chapters. If the understanding of the additional anecdotes is slightly dependant on the setting of *One Flew Over*, then having it as chapters will make it easier for people to read your fiction after more than the first anecdote has been posted. They won't have to search back to read a seperate posted story. It will all be together.

Thanks all for the input. I went ahead and posted one of the anecdotes as a chapter, with a disclaimer at the top... I think that should work.
Of course, then I went and read the new 42 days challenge, got an extremely fluffy plot-bunny only to realize that I don't know exactly what the character in question wears (at least not so that I could take 500 words to describe it). So question, anybody know of where I could get my hands on a good, full-body picture of the Gaiden crew in their normal togs?

Many thanks for the link! It does indeed have all the pictures I could want, and then some. Of course, now I'm wishing I could have all of said pictures plastered shamelessly to my guestroom wall, but c'est la vie.
My infernal plot-bunny has become a rabid wombat of a creature. It's amazing how such seemingly innocent critters can grow teeth and begin foaming at the metaphorical mouth. At this point I've no idea whether it will even work for the challenge in question, but it's rapidly becoming a "me or it"/matter of honor type challenge.
My husband commented that I get a little emotional about writing, but honestly, is it possible to write if you don't feel any emotional involvement with your subject? I look at writing as something that you do not so much because you want to as because if you don't the primal plot-bunny in the depth of your psyche will begin grinningly devouring your soul.
*steps back*realizes she should really not write any more until the analgesics and cough suppressants wear off*
Okay, more once I manage to finish the story and kick this horrid flu.

The bunny has been dealt with. Oddly enough, I've become extremely fond of Konzen in the process. I really need to find a computer I can use to download some of the links I've been provided, since the Konzen-containing material to which I have access otherwise is rather limited. I've only actually seen him mentioned in a few mental picture scenes in the manga and of course in the second season of the anime. I want to know more about this guy and how the hell he wound up being reincarnated as Sanzo of all people.
Ah, the joys of wasting time pondering bishounen...*smiles at mental images*
Now, to work on Seduction (aka the third tale from the cuckoo's nest).

Yes yes! I'm looking forward to reading your entry. Writing about someone getting dressed is rather rough, though, I must say. Most stories I simply sit down and jot down, give it a beta read or two and then post. This one I had to really work at. It wasn't as difficult as my paper on the industrial uses of supercritical fluids, but there was some of the same 'feel' to writing it. I'm almost nervous to see what the next challenge will involve... Anyway, hope the inspiration/motivation stick pummels you sometime soon.

I love both stories. One flew over pratically made me cry. But one question. Are any other patients involved, like some as Dr. Nii, or Kougaiji and gang?

Hmmm. There are few things in the fanfiction world that make me cry. One of them is Legolas angst/crying. The other is this: One Flew Over, that is. I haven't got a clue -why- it makes me so sniffley (OK, I didn't -quite- cry)
I think it's because they're so helpless, in a way. Mentally ill, believing they matter to the world in such a huge way, and yet truly being four out of hundreds, trapped in a mental hospital. I find it so sad.
I'm not doing the contest. *sigh* I had a few ideas for the humour category, or a nice drunken/hung-over (it is hung-over, right? Not something ridiculous like hang-overed?) Gojyo. Decided against it, though. I may take the idea and do it later, though. I'm pretty sure I won't be able to beat the deadline, though. I take -aaages-.

Blood_Debt: Glad you liked them! As for your question, well, there is at least one other character mentioned in the two OFO stories posted, but it might help if you realize that only the ikkou kept their names. Any other characters mentioned will likely not be "in on it," so to speak. Unfortunately, at the moment, I am back to thinking that OFO should be a stand-alone. I am seriously considering moving the second chapter along with another anecdote to a new title-heading... we'll see. I like writing stuff for this setting, but the stuff I'm writing is by-in-large not the work-intensive/polished level of that first chapter. I hate being a perfectionist. C'est la vie. elven dreamer: my oh my but it sounds like you've got one hell of a plot bunny by the tail there. The possibilities of Gojyo trying to get dressed while drunk or hung over are... amusing to say the least. Write it! Even if it's not in time. Finally, I am in need of help. I blame it on Wildelamassu. I just finished reading all of her stories for the second time, and in that philosophical mood, wrote a three-page, crack-mad story that I'm debating posting. Is there anyone who'd care to beta it and tell me whether I should even consider letting this thing out in public?
