Ok, all... I jumped in. No this is not any of those one-shots I was talking about. This is the multi-chaptered thing with the complicated plot. What can I say? I like to challenge myself. www.fanfiction.net/s/2052644/1/'Tis called "Legacy" and I'll warn you, b/c I know this squicks some people. I will be relying on original characters quite heavily, both male and female. In fact, one of my more desperate characters is female. (There's an author's note explaining a lot.) It's listed as Drama/Action because that's the main focus of the story, but I can never write anything without popping off one-liners and fairly ridiculous situations, so expect a good dose of humor once in awhile. Well, anyway, read if you want, comment if you care, and if you'd rather not, OK. It's all good. cheers,Kellen

Tried your story. I know next to nothing about InuYasha so I can't comment on the OOCness of the characters, but I can say that I really enjoyed what I read. It started out with a blast and drew me into the story. You had just enough of the original characters to pique our curiosity and interest and then our concern of what could have happened to them. I like your writing style. Descriptive with good dialogue. I look forward to reading more.
Maybe now I'll make time to see InuYasha with my son. He keeps trying to get met to watch it with him.
Oh, about the comedy. I think every great drama or tragedy has to have some humor to lighten the mood, or you can't truly appreciate when things go from worse to even worse.

Oh, thank you so much! It's always wonderful to get feedback. Thanks ever so much.
Oi, the humor... I wrote a LotR fic ("Faith") that was a pretty angsty story and I complained to some people about my penchant for putting one-liners in the story. Here I've got people grieving deaths in the family and I'm shooting off these jokes. My friend finally pointed out that I do the same thing when faced with bad situations; I tend to defend myself with humor. That was when the light bulb went on and I was able to actually write the story. LoL.
Thanks for the comments. Chapter two should be up in the next couple days.
cheers,Kellen

Part of that is because laughter is an instinctual reaction to release stress. That is part of the reason why bad things happening to people can cause people to laugh. I always thought there was something wrong with the world growing up until I read about that. So humor is an angt fic is a good thing it breaks the tension and stress. Otherwise the story would be just exhausting to read. Pardon me if I seem to be rambling but it is 530 AM here *grumbles* I really don't want to be awake. Anyrate, it takes real talent to balance humaor and angst. Talent I know that I certainly don't have ^^;

Just recently went to a Funeral. My best friend just lost her Mother. Besides being there and holdng her while she cried, the thing that made me feel best was that she smiled and laughed as we shared old stories about sleep-overs every weekend and her Mom tolerating an extra daughter. Death is heartbreaking at any age. The happy memories shouldn't be.
I look forward to chapter two.

Aye and I just recently sat with my grandfather as he died (Stroke, and he was taken off life support; 'twas a week and a half of torture). Some of the things our family laughed about... and grandpa himself. Since he couldn't swallow, but was thirsty, the nurses provided small sponges. After awhile, he started referring to himself as "SpongeCharlie". His youngest grandkids watch Spongebob all the time.
Humor is a defense mechanism. If we dwelled on the angst of some of these situations all the time, we'd never make it. I know, with that time with grandpa, had I not been able to laugh sometimes, I would have had a nervous breakdown.
I should have chapter two up by Wed or Thurs. RL is interfering. Grrr...
cheers,Kellen

Ah , Real Life. Know it all too well, and I'm not trying to write a story in what little time there is left over. I look forward to it, whenever you get a chance to finish.
Always remember the good times with your Grandfather, and pass them on to your kids. It's the way we live on in the next generations and our love isn't forgotten.

Hey there, Kellen! I just thought I'd leave a note saying that I love your new IY story "Legacy" a LOT so far! You're doing an excellent job creating vivid new characters for a unique adventure, and I can't wait to see how Jason and Reiko are connected to the Inuyasha universe. Hehe, and you think I'm mean to Inuyasha's ears?! LOL. ;D Well, it's pretty late my time, but I'll be waiting around for the next chapter! Keep up the excellent work!
