Animespiral is a similar site to ff.net, except purely for anime stories- does anyone else visit it? I know Opti and Me-Nuriko do, but that's about it. It also has no rules, and I don't think the admin check it. And I'm afraid to say, the story quality isn't so good, but there are a few gems. Link: www.animespiral.com

Animespiral has serious problems with plagiarism that authors of stolen work have been attempting to address with the admins. To date, they have had no success in their efforts. If you would like specific details, I will be glad to provide them.
I cannot, in good conscience, support a site that provides no recourse for an author who has had their work stolen.

I remember when several stories from different authors on ff.net were posted on AnimeSpiral by one person. I first found out about fanfiction on AnimeSpiral. Only when someone posted a reply to a review telling the reviewer that all of the rest her story would appear on Fanfiction did I ever find out about another place for fanfiction. Decided I wanted to see the rest of the story so I tried ff.net and was amazed at the amount and quality of stories. The one thing I do like about AnimeSpiral is the author can directly reply to the reviewer.

Was wondering if you'd actually put this up. Now that I remember it (I deserted animespiral.com for eff eff dot net quite a while ago) plagiarism (spelt wrong, I know) was quite a thing: I remember reading about it. Agreed with cesmith: it's good how you can respond to reviews: that's something thaf ff.net should adopt, maybe. The layout of A.S is okay...more interesting than ff.net's black and white, but since they put in the ads it got annoying. And as Blood_Debt and MsCongeniality said, the admin is pretty lousy. You can post stuff that isn't anime fic there, but nobody really reads it. Anime is the focus. The name says it all. ^_^ Therefore my stuff gets sucky numbers of reads and reviews. Though I do like how you can tell how many hits you get. I much prefer ffnet though. More variety (for a LotR freak like moi) and generally better stories.

As Blood_Depth wrote, I post at Animespiral. That's where I got my first reviews from cesmith and OptiMoose. Yes, it's true there is plagiarism. I have found an 'author' that had posted several Saiyuki fics, claiming she had written them herself, when in fact I recognized them all from ff.net. One was even written by a girl I was regularly emailing at that time. I wrote and told her (and the other authors, I think D-chan here at the MB was one of them) , and our mutual beta. I was about to report it to the admin of aminespiral, but my friends both did, and the stolen fics where taken away before I had reported it. Stolen fics is a serious problem. It can be hard to discover, too. Especially if the author post the story on different sites under different names. That's why I had to ask my friend before I did anything. I myself post under the names of Me-Nuriko or Nuriko. At least they are quite similar. If anyone would discover any of my fics somewhere, I would be very grateful if you tell me. If it is I who has posted it, I still would be grateful for you finding out that it really was me.

Yeah, being able to reply to reviews is the easiest thing to do. I'm also less afraid to post there, script format is allowed, and ffnet seems a little intimidating, compared, so I'm polishing my stories before they get posted. In a way, animespiral is like the place where you can give stories a 'test drive' *VroomVROOM* , and you get LOTS of reviews if you write InuYasha... my friend has about a thousand and a half right now... *jealous* I don't think there IS an admin anymore, they do absolutely nothing with wrongly rated stories etc etc.

It's like they've taken a permanent vactation *sighs in envy* But I'm glad they allow (or dont care about) script format...my lil bro wrote something in script (I posted it on ffnet, a bad idea as I got deleted for it) and now the link to it on animespiral is in my bio. *smiles* so the lack of rules is a good thing at times.
Test driving? Well, that's one way of saying it...(b-d: zoom, zoom, zoom....LOL) IF you write anime...I was hesitant about putting my stuff on ff.net to begin with as it gets almost no reviews on animespiral. *sob*

Another good thing is how reviews immediately reach there, but on ff.net, you can sign in for reviews... *sigh* And elven dreamer, dahlink, its because you didn't write anime... the word anime... animespiral... you know...

I know, I know, I said that the first time. But at the time it was the only site I knew. And then along came ffnet and then fictionpress.com and then was introduced here (eternal thanks to Blood-Debt ^_^) And b-d? Call me dahlink again, and.....well, I can't exactly set Sanzo on you (damn, damn, damn. I love that gun!!!) so I'll settle for sending in the green-eyed monster *grins* as the other two are taken. Pairing is now a happy thing. Poor Chi. Anyway, back to the subject. Reviewing thingy on animespiral is good, as is the responding. On the other hand, the admin is almost non-existant, the story quality is sad (for example check out RanmaX's "Sex Scene Created By Me" -isn't really a hentai but it's just an example of what kind of stories there are. I don't mean to diss ALL your stories, RanmaX!!!

It IS non-existent.
You can find some good stories there, its just that everyone is inclined to do script style... and I'm not so fond of it anymore.

Look at the icon! It's a smiley!! Just rediscovered you could do that. About the lack of admin, all I say is: I know, I know, I'm just so nice and not-blunt (at times) that I didn't say that. *halo appears* ;D And yeah, script format pisses me off. Gave up on it quite a while ago.

What I don't like about the "interactive" reviews on animspiral is that, more often than not, you run into "chats" between author and reader. While I like the idea of communication (after all, that was what brought this board into existence), the chit-chat isn't exactly useful for readers, or authors. Another thing that really annoys me is the number of "read my story" reviews. A good story finds its audience by itself.

Well, it does give you more reviews that way

Duh, such "numbers" are pretty much worthless. It just says that you have plenty of people who chat with you. I mean, look at your own stories - how many real reviews did you get? How many of your reviews was just talk between your friends? I know that I'm pretty much repelled by all the chatter.

Hahahaha. For once, something I am not guilty of: having chats with friends. Thing is, only one of my friends reads my stuff! So I can certainly plead innocent...of that charge, anyway. Most "irritating habits/thingummies that authors do" (long bios/author's notes.....) Guilty.
All pretty and blue.
