This will be the thread to discuss my current Saiyuki epic, Perfect World. I don't really want to make threads to my one-shots (as they're... well... short, and probably don't make as many questions arise as my few epics do) so... yeah. XD;; Anyway. Fic can be found here ( www.fanfiction.net/s/2055563/1/ ). It's still ongoing and the chapter length is undecided, but it's still estimated to be somewhere around 30-35 chapters. And, just as a warning, it will be very yaoi-filled (but as it's on FFN, no NC-17, so we're clear of that). So... yeah! ^^; Anything related to this fic can be commented on here: questions, comments, errors, whatever.

I don't have any real questions about 'Perfect World' as I usually tend to like to sit back and just enjoy the ride that authors of stories provide the reader with. Yeah, probably me being lazy or something but I guess there is one thing I am curious about. What was it that inspired you to create a world where Homura came to Goku's rescue instead of Sanzo? Heh! Other than you seeming to be a Homura fan that is Either way, I am thoroughly enjoying your story and can hardly wait for the next chapter. Zell

Zel's got a good question - and I add, how long have you been sitting on this? I know it's already written and you're posting in beta'd installments, but there's definitely a bit of an affectionate vibe about this fic as it pertains to you Gotta say I'm enjoying it right now - the idea is unique and just crazy enough to work. And that, of course, says nothing for your prose - I've envied it ever since I ran across your work

*muses* What inspired me? Actually, a friend and I have a few roleplays, and we wanted to bring Homura in more than we already did. One idea we had was to create an alternate universe in which Homura freed Goku from the cave instead of Sanzo, but we never got around to it. I found the idea intriguing, though, so I just kinda picked it up and went from there. ^_^ As for how long... looking back in my lifejournal, I had the first chapter finished March 14th. *sweatdrop* And I got nearly sixteen chapters written over the summer break, so... yeah. Drastic changes in the writing between the first chapter and what I currently have done. (And actually, it's not exactly finished... I'm well into the twenties as far as chapters go, but I still have a few major scenes, the climax chapters, and some winding down segments to finish. The only reason I posted it early was because I was confident I could finish the story by the time the later chapters rolled around, and I wanted to make sure I was the first person to post the idea. I'm way too stuck in trying to be original at times...) ^_^ Am muchly glad you're enjoying it, though.

Heh, it's easy to identify with everything you say - and wow, someone who gets ideas from RP's. Shibbiness ;D Originality aside, I'm just glad you posted "Perfect World" now because, well, I get to read it now. Simplistic enough, eh? You seem to have a system that's doing well for you, and I personally think it's kind of cool to see how a story changes from the first chapter as it continues into multiple digits.

I'm really glad you decided to post early as well, its an awesome story so far (and I have absolutely no doubts it will continue to be so since you're such a talented writer that I have not been disappointed by in anything of yours that I have read Plus it gives me something to look forward to each week How is that you find the time to write so much? I find that I just don't get the time *sigh* Ideas from roleplaying? I've heard some people are lucky like that *grins* I've never role played before though but I think I am glad you do

Writing time? *blinku* I actually have a lot less now that school has started. But I had a bit of an extended summer since I was moving, and since I moved into a neighborhood I'm not too familiar with, I had about two months to do nothing but write. PW stole a lot of that time. Unfortunately, in the month and a half since school's started, I've only been able to write one chapter for the fic. -_- It might be because the part I'm on now is mostly just character stuff, building tension toward the climax, but... eh. Glad I can give you something to look forward to every week, though. I'll try to diligently provide.

The world 'Perfect World' attracted me. And I'm going to keep on reading until it finished. I think the plots great!! It's a really interesting idea.

I also love Perfect World. I'd been meaning to read it for a long time, but since I don't have internet at home (still! gah!) it's a pain to try read it at school what with the worry that people'll peer over my shoulder....
So a couple weeks ago I saved it all offline and read it during the weekend!
I'm really, really enjoying it. I love the way you portray each character, and the relationship between Homura and Goku is believable... I just smile when I finish a chapter. Or scream, depending on the cliff hanger!
What I really like though is the flashes of "things aren't supposed to be like this".
I'm really curious to see an encounter between Sanzo and Goku!

May I join the band wagon in adoring your fiction? This is such a fun story! I love your attention to detail, and how carefully thought out the nuances of Goku's absence are. There's an almost "It's a Wonderful Life" vibe to some of the moments that I find enthralling.
Beyond that, I like that the pace is not rushed. There's a nice rhythm to the plot, and I have yet to feel like something's missing.
One question: why is Shien so cold? The antipathy he apparently harbors towards Goku seems a little inexplicable to me, but I'm not sure if it's supposed to, or if there was something in the anime that I missed. Either way, it's intriguing.

I must admit that I am curious on that also, though I have been thinking that maybe it has something to do with Goku having been Nataku's best friend and Shien would know that. It may even make him a little... uncomfortable as a result? *raises eyebrows questioningly* Obviously, while I would love to have answers handed to me, I am more than happy to wait until all is revealed in the story I don't mind little tidbits but I do hate spoilers.

Shien's attitude towards Goku is something that, unfortunately, won't be fully revealed until the last few chapters. So I can promise you'll get to see why, but it won't be for quite a while. At the moment, the tentative chapter count is 38, so it'll be somewhere near the higher end of that spectrum.
