The topic for challenge #3 is dialogue&emotions. More precisely:
Write an argument/verbal fight between two characters of your choice, with a realistic solution to the situation.
The impact of spoken words is as important as the display of emotions or feelings of the characters involved. The story doesn't need to have a "happy ending".
There are no keywords this time.
Additional rules for this contest:
Deadline for this contest is 1. March 2005.
Entries after this date can't be accepted.
Votes will start on March 2nd. The final day of voting is 31. March 2005.
Good luck, and keep those stories coming!
Addition (added on Januar, 29th for clarification)
The argument/fight has to be carried by the dialogue and its descriptive tags, but narration is of course not forbidden.
The idea behind the current contest is to put a lot of the emotions into spoken language and speech tags. Example:
'Oh the joy.' Peter wished the ground would open and swallow him. “It won't interfere with my job, if that's what you're worried about.”<br>
“For crying out loud! You want me to trust you, but you're not even trying to trust me!” Egon's hands trembled ever so slightly, but he gained back self-control fast.
Before Peter could even as much as think about a reply, the door opened and Frank poked his head into the room. "Anyone interested in lunch?"
“Take the day off,Peter.” Disappointment reflected in Egon's voice. “We'll talk again tomorrow.”
This would be an example for a short, verbal fight. Try to make the reader feel the anger/disappointment/hurt/fear of the characters.
Narration is welcome, but this exercise is "show, don't tell".
