Well, here it is - my first brainchild in almost a year. I can't believe I haven't written anything for so long... Anyway, this fic is about the final confrontation of Genjo Sanzo and Nii Jenyi. It can be seen as the ultimate conclusion of "Man of Science", although it also makes sense if you haven't read that fic beforehand. I quite like my idea of the sutra battle - I came up with it only a good 12 hours before I actually wrote it. The end pretty much wrote itself, thanks to a major thunderstorm in the area and a power outage at work (thank goodness for laptops and their batteries! ;D ) to provide for a proper background. As usual, many thanks to Zelgadis55 for taking the time to beta this fic! Linky

Welcome back. I tried to leave a review, but ff is doing it's thing again and is telling me I've left a review where I definitely haven't, So I will leave one here! A sutra battle! It was a brilliant idea. I wish it (the story) had been a little longer. But I am being greedy! A I like the little references to chess, as it seems to also be one of his many obsessions. A fitting title as well. Hmm, I wonder with the power of the combined sutras then what would Sanzo do at the end. Destroy Gyumaoh. And what of Rasetsunyo? Will he have to await further instruction (presumably all being well). He would have the power to release her after all, I think. zan - out....thinking too much as always!

Just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed your story too. Like you, I also believe that the final battle will be won or lost using the sutras. My only question is why did Nii only use one of the sutras? He should be in possession of 3 of them. His, so lovingly protected in Bunny, the one Kou delivered to him that had been buried with the scorpion lady in the desert and the one stolen from Koumyou. Of course, would one Sanzo be able to use that much power at one time?
As for removing the binding spells from Rasetsunyo, I think Sanzo would be able to do it also.

Thank you guys for your replies to this thread! The question of why Nii only used his sutra is a good one - I personally think that you have to be somewhat acquainted and attuned with each sutra's power before you can actually use it (that is, its mystical powers, not the raw power Nii probably means to extract by mechanical means). Maybe I should have mentioned that in the story, itself. As for the question of Rasetsunyo... I have another one-shot planned in that regard, I might try to write it next week. Thanks again!
