I'm looking forward to what I can find in the dealers room. It's just that with so much access to items already, it's easy to pass up things at the convention unless the prices are quite good. Yesterday at Kinokuniya I saw three of the most wonderful 12 inch figurines for Final Fantasy 10. I can buy them now for my husband, he loves that game, or wait until the convention where they will probably be more expensive and if I wait someone else will buy them from Kinokuniya since there was only one of each character. The only reason I didn't get them yesterday was they were REALLY. REALLY, REALLY expensive. At the convention I might buy one item for that much but I would NEVER buy three. At least this year I might not have to buy many manga since the new releases actually arrived at our bookstore on time and I bought a whole lot of them already using my employee discount.

Suitcases are packed, snacks are ready, hotel reservations confirmed. Just need directions to the hotel and tomorrow we are off for a six hour drive with temperatures approaching 100 (38C). BUT, the air conditioner in the car works and we are all excited and ready.

So c'mon...spill it it already... I wanna know what you came back with! I can't help it. I just get so excited about these things... its a shame we don't get them over here. Next time we travel... Iwill check out if there are any conventions happening or not, and will make it a point to go. So how broke are you?

We are BROKE. Utterly BROKE...BUT we did stay in budget and I only had to use the credit card to buy gas so we could drive home.
;D My LOOT ;D
First and most important are my Saiyuki drawings. The first one is a detailed drawing set with special effects drawings, copy scene layout with pencil notations and timing sheets. It is a roughly drawn picture of Goku, Gojyo and Hakkai with a minimum of color and shading. Another sheet is of Sanzo in the jeep alone and the final sheet is both pictures put together to form the finished scene. Included in the pack is the timing sheets from the anime where this scene is etc. The other drawing is of Hakkai. One sheet is just of him with some shading, the other is the same rough sketch of Hakkai with a backdrop of the town behind them. I know the first picture is from either RELOAD or Gunlock because Gojyo doesn't have his *puffy* pants, just nice normal jeans.
I got 6 Saiyuki clear stickers that will *maybe* be used as window stickers.
A really nice Hakkai keychain.
I went a little crazy with the lapel pins, there were just so many I HAD to have. ;D First and most important, Sanzo, Goku, Hakkai and Gojyo, Aya and Yohji, Ban and Ginji, Hiei and Kurama, Gon, Kuripeka, Killua, Leoreo and Hisoka. Because I bought so many the vendor threw in 2 free, chibi Kenshin and Kyo in his cat form.
We got wall scrolls of Bakuretsu Tenshi and Tenjho Tenge. They will look great in our hallway with the Kenshin and Sailor Moon ones we already have.
FIGURINES, our major weakness... We got Sayouran and Sakura and Chi in one set (They had unfortunately already sold out of Fai. We also got some figurines from Negima: Asuna, Library girl, the cook and the grand-daughter. (Sorry, I can't remember their names and I'm too lazy to get the manga to find out.) We got both miniature and 12 inch figures of Aya and Maya from Tenjho Tenge and mini Emi, Mana and chibi Maya. We got a 12 inch Cos-Mos and Cloud and his motorcycle. Sean got Gon and Killuah figures and a set of Naruto ones. (He didn't do much shopping, he mostly played in the gaming room or went to Gaia on-line panels.)
T-shirt, another weakness...I got one that has the saying I use for the MB, Do Not Meddle In The Affairs of Dragons for You Are Crunchy and Tasty With Ketchup (It's a dragon looking down at two knights trying to run off with a treasure chest.). Then a green Dragon reading with the saying, Curl up with a good book and the last one is a beautiful blue dragon on a black shirt.
I found Tenryu # 5, which I had not been able to find anywhere. I also bought the latest Dragon Riders of Pern book when we went to Barnes and Nobles for lunch.EDIT: How could I forget the videos?? I got the Weiss Kreuz tv series (it has interviews with the Japanese seiyuu) and the 8th DVD of Tenjho Tenge.
Paul got a Final Fantasy pocket watch and a Glass dragon statue that sits on a base with several different color lightbulbs, so the glass sculpture changes colors. VERY pretty.Later, what we did...

A veritable treasure indeed. I am jealous of the drawings you have picked up! They sound very cool! Collar (oops Lapel) pins! Yeah I can never resist them either.
I saw a set of chibi TsubasaRC figurines in the comics shop I go to, but I was deterred by the price a little. Never mind. (If/When) I get a job, maybe!
So did you catch the live shows, the screenings and signings? More gossip please! ;D ;D ;D

Well, it is officially 6 months and 11 days until Otokon 2007 and the hotel reservations have been booked. Shortly the tickets will need to be ordered and then the fun begins. There's nothing like planning and putting a wish list together. Is anyone planning to go this year?
