Q: Do I need to sign up or register to make a post?A: No, guests can post freely, as they please. There is no need to sign up. Q: Why should I sign up, then?A: Signing up has a couple of advantages, like that you can edit your posts after posting, or that you can receive private messages from other members by the board's message system. Of course, signing up also means that no one can pose as you. Q: That's all nice, but what is that bull about being forced to sign up with a specific email and username?A: This board's purpose is to give authors and readers a platform for communication. As this is a virtual platform, it is impossible to verify a person's identity. Without certain limits in the registraton process, someone would answer to people using your pen name, posing as you. That is why your e-mail address and username have to match your ff.net pen name information when you sign up using a name that is already registered to someone on ff.net. However, if you sign up with a name that is not registered in the directory of ff.net, there are no restrictions. Q: How can you verify my email address? ff.net doesn't display them in the author bios page! Are you working with ff.net?A: The email address is displayed if you are logged in with a registered user account on ffnet. This way, I can see if your addresses match. And no, I'm not working with ffnet. I wished I would, since then I could at least make the one or other thing change. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask!

Q: The label under my name says that I'm a Lazy Member! What does that mean?A: The label under the name indicates how many posts a registered member has posted. It is no ranking system and no means of claiming seniority. The labels mean: Label | Number of Posts | New Member | 0-4 posts |
|
| Lazy Member | 5-49 posts |
|
| Active Member | 50-149 posts |
|
| Very Active Member | 150-999 posts |
|
| Hyperactive Member | 1000+ posts |
|
|
If anyone goes beyond 2000 posts, that poster qualifies for a special cathegory of their own.

Well, let's see if I can answer your questions.... Q: Will there ever be a limit on the number of members? For the moment, there isn't a limit to the number of members. However, the number of board sections can be limited due to technical limitations. Q: Is it possible for an account to be deleted when unused for a certain amount of time?If you talk about the unused board sections, yes, they will be deleted after a warning. This is also stated in the board rules. Q: Will the people who joined and never posted and never will be deleted? The 'eternal lurkers'? Yes - but there will be an annual 'I'm still alive' thread to sort out who's really just a lurker, or who has disappeared forever. The first 'call will be at the end of 2005, so no one needs to worry just yet. Q: When was this board set up?June 4th, 2004.

Q: If a member makes a NC-17 mistake, and gets deleted, will all his/her posts be deleted as well?A: First of all, no one will get deleted for making a mistake. Links to NC-17 will be deleted, as for users, it depens on the situation. But as long as it's an honest mistake and not something that's done by the same person every fortnight... To answer your question: Posts of deleted users won't be deleted automatically (unless the mechanism of the board provider changes, of course). As for single posts, they can be deleted if they are offensive in nature. Q: When a board is moved, are the posts counted twice until it is deleted?A: No. A board gets moved completely with all the threads in it. If you are talking about a thread (the 'subsections' in a board), only a 'reminder/detour' message remains in the original board, all messages are transferred to the new board. Therefore, those messages only count once, too. Q: If a board is moved from your own should you let the admin delete it or do it yourself?A: I assume that you are talking about the 'thread' that is moved. Boards can only be created and deleted by the admin. You can delete the 'moved' thread in your own section, or move a thread from your section. However, if you do so, please don't forget to log the change in the "Service Announcement" thread here in the Helpdesk-section. Q: If a member made an NC-17 remark whilst not logged in would he/she still be deleted? Are you planning on swamping the board with NC-17? Basically, it's the same 'rule' as with the links. The post might get deleted or edited, depending on the nature of the 'offense'. As for the user in question: every message is logged with the userIP, even if you don't log in. If a specific user, despite warning, continues to be offensive, it might not just get the user deleted, but also blocked from posting on the board 'unlogged'. I hope that this answers your questions. I sincerly hope that I never ever have to kick someone off the board for going against the NC-17 part of the board provider's Terms of Service. Then again, so far everyone has acted mature enough that I don't think any registered user of this board will pull an idioticy like continued breaking of the rule.

Q: Is it possible for an ordinary member to move a board?
A: No, you can't move your board. Only the Admin can do that.
Q: Can other people read your IM's?
A: The person you send it to can read it. Also, if someone hacks into your account, they can read your IM. Outside of that, no, no one but the intended recipient can read your IMs.
Q: Why is there a limit on the IM size?
I'm not the one who designed the board, but if I understand this correctly, it works with a database. If you want to store something in a database, you have to define the size of the field (Message, or IM, for example), how many letters you are allowed to enter. Nothing bigger can be entered in the field.
Q: Is there an age limit?
A: An age limit for what? - People joining the board? No age limit there. - IMs? Not as far as I know. I still have some old stuff. - Threads? Some old threads might be moved over to the archive in time, but generally, no, no age limit.
