With the end of the first contest drawing closer, the voting time approches, too. Please chose your preferred method of voting: Option 1: Three poll threads will be opened, one for each place. All stories are listed in each thread. You pick which story you see in the first, the second and the third place. Option 2: Each story gets its own poll thread. You can give a story points between 1-10. The points for each story are added up in the end. Option 3: If you have a different suggestion for the thread polls, please feel free to share.

I think you should rate a story between 1-10. Then the three stories with the highest ratings should win first, second, and third place.
Though, I don't know if that's what you meant, but oh well.

I agree with VG - I think everybody's pretty rational and will actually *think* about their numerical assignments before shoving a "10" in every slot

Er... actually, that was what I meant with Option 2...

Okay, since the option 2 seems to be the most popular option, here a few thoughts on how I think the voting should work: Read ALL stories in the contest, no matter if you know/like the fandom/character/author or not. Log in (important, because only that way you can vote in a poll!) You can give a story between 1 and 8 points (Not like first said, 1, because the poll-option only allows up to 8 different options). You can give up to four points to things like writing style, language use, characterization, story set up, flow, etc. (Technical part) and also to how enjoyable/scary/thoughtprovoking the story was for you (impact part). Personally, I think that a ratio of 5 points for the technical part and 3 points for the impact part is a good way to fairly judge a story. But how you divide the points is up to you. Every story will have its own thread for the votes. I've put up a test thread where you can all try out the system. You can only vote ONCE in each thread. Your vote is anonymous (not even I as the admin can see who voted, or what each voter picked out), but you can leave a comment or thought for the author as a message added to the thread. When voting, try to be neutral. Judge a story for its quality and impact, not by if you like the author, or if its a fandom you prefer. So, what do you think about this? Can this go up as "voting instructions"? Do you have own suggestions or thoughts that you'd like to see in here?

You didn't say anything about voting for your own story. This is generally not allowed, and that is the way I like it, but maybe you could tell us what the rule says.

That's a good point, Me-Nuriko. It would only be appropriate if authors don't vote for their own stories. But since the voting system is anonymous, it's impossible to prevent self-votes.
Therefore, it's up to each author's sense of fair play.
