A story can be written wonderfully entertaining, but totally fail on levels of grammar and other language issues. To make a story good, both is needed. The current polling system tries to encourage the Jury of the contest (meaning, you who take the time and effort to actually vote to consider both style and entertainment value while thinking about the amount of points you give to a story. For the author, it's often not quite clear why a story gets only few points (please let me know if I am wrong with this assumption). So the idea is to split up the votes for a story manually. There would be two voting threads like today for each story - one for style and one for entertainment value. You can give points in each thread, and in the end, the averages of each thread for a story are counted together and both make the final result. Example: A story gets In the style vote 5*3=15 5*4=20 1*5=5 ______ = 40 / 11 = 3,6363 in the entertainment value 1*2=2 1*4=3 2*5=10 2*6=12 3*7=21 2*8=16 ______ = 64 / 11 = 5,8181 3,6363 +5,8181 _______ 9,4544 / 2 = 4,7272 It should be of more information value for the author, as to where one's weaknesses lie. What do you think?
