MISCELLANY, a term applied to a single book containing articles, treatises or other writings dealing with a variety of different subjects." --Encyclopedia Britannica, 1911 In this case, it refers to a variety of short pieces focusing on various InuYasha characters. I tend to write 'vignette' style pieces and deal mostly with inner thoughts and monologues. Right now, I've got 3 chapters up - all short, shorts. There is one Rin piece and two from Kagome's perspective. There may be more, but I haven't been feeling particularly inspired lately. Anyway, feel free to use this space to give comments, criticisms or mints. The chapters can be found at FF.Net

I posted another chapter tonight, this one from Kikyou's point of view. As you can probably tell, I wasn't having one of my better nights when I came up with the base for this one. Anyway, enjoy the angst! *Takes a staplegun and attaches her hand to her forehead.* Oh Woooe!

Another chapter has been started and is close to the point where I'd sent it off to beta. It's whiny and angsty once again and I attribute this entirely to me being in pain and this being December (a highly depressing month for me).
Once again, we're looking at post-series Kagome dealing with the loss of her friends. The title is going to be One of Those Days.

One of Those Days is almost done and I did another short-short called The Survivor which is meant to be Sango angst.
Mmm...angsty goodness...

Those were interesting. Definately "angsty", but well done. I was a little surprised by the short chapters - maybe I'm used to pages-long chapters from my writing in Crossing the Rubicon (and Life of the Silver Tear), and it took me a little while to figure out whose point of view it was, but the individual pieces were good. I think that one thing that slightly confused me was that I was expecting the chapters to be closely linked, usually a chronological procession, but once I got to chapter 4 "Her Voice", it seems that they are each really their own story.

I generally only write short vignettes. I think my longest piece is still less than 2,000 words total. (This is partly due to the fact that I suck at writing plot)
Miscellany is meant to be a single place to house these individual pieces because it seemed silly to create a new story for each 200 word scene that came into my head. Most are continuations, some take place in modern times and some in the Sengoku Jidai, and I've yet to write one that wasn't depressing as all get out.
The title came about because I was looking for a good way of putting these small pieces together. I then recalled Neil Gaiman's short story collection Angels and Visitations which is subtitled 'A Miscellany by Neil Gaiman'.
And that's...probably more than anybody ever wanted to know about that.

Nah, that was okay. I think that my problem was that the organization was different than the fan fictions I'm used to reading, where it has one long plot extending through several chapters. Granted, I've seen collections of seperate stories in one "story" heading, but I've usually bypassed them because they're poems or songfics and I'm usually not that interested in either.

Chapter 5, One of Those Days, has been posted at ff.net. That one seems to be in reasonable shape, but the Sango piece is definitely not ready for prime time.
