Starting with the next chapter, I'll pull 'Imperfection Amalgamated' from public access, and delete if from any public archive.
Some things happened that made me think about whether or not I'm able to handle certain things, and it turns out that I'm not able to handle it.
However, that doesn't mean I'll leave you in the dark about what's going to happen. Slaves will be uploaded on my own site. I'll let those of you who are interested know the URL via private message.
I apologize for taking this rather drastic (and maybe childish) step, but I feel that if I continue to post this story for the general audience, it will cause me more hurt than good.

I would agree that this seems a rather drastic step. For all that I can understand that point at which a story is received in such a way as to make you fearful of exposing it (and consequently those aspects of yourself of necessity contained in any writing) any further, I would plead against pulling the current chapters from their archives.
I offer two reasons for this. The first is that for every reader who has actually commented on the story, there are likely around thirty who have not - for all that they probably enjoyed it. Your ffnet url is probably gracing many a bookmark list for folks who rather like it and who would be vastly disappointed were it to disappear without a trace. Admittedly, you are leaving clues here and at lj as to where it will be headed, but not everyone has the knowledge/courage to track them down (specifically requesting access to an author's story, after all, requires contact with the author, which a lot of folks find intimidating). So please don't punish the silent many for the comments of the misunderstanding few.
My second argument for leaving the current chapters where they lie is that if you're seeking a cessation of commentary, you'll attain it more readily through simply leaving things alone. Interest wanes over time among the readership, and while a new development (such as moving the current chapters to a secret mountain hideaway in the lower elevations of the Schwarzwald under the protection of a lesser mountain troll with Halitosis of Unending Doom) will spark curiosity, leaving old books to lie in the stacks will likely see them gather dust with time. You may get some "why won't you finish this" type comments from the confused, but beyond that, things will dry up and leave you alone all on their own.
Anyway, as for only posting updates in a new, private location, I'm all in favor of that. If you feel that will protect you from adverse reactions and thus free up your creativity, by all means - go for it. I look forward to the results. After all, posting should bring you joy, and if it doesn't, a change is clearly indicated. Best of luck, and do keep me up to speed on your decisions.

Unfortunately, I seem to be out of the run of things and don't understand what is happening.
I agree with treneka's arguments, but ultimately it's your decision.
*hug* (<-- i think you need that, for some reason. if not, i do... i have a touch of bronchitis)

treneka: Oh, I think you are highly overestimating the number of readers for this story. Recent chapters had an average of 75 readers, so it's not like hords of people will go searching for this story. It's not about receiving comments for this story in general. Yes, the nominaton if 'Slaves' as 'Best Slash' had to do it, but it more or less showed me that I'm complete and utterly vulnerable as far as certain basic issues about this story are involved. This is my problem and not that of the readers, I understand that. But l would not feel comfortable with the story still in the 'open field', to the degree that I would hesitate to write it. In this, it's very different from 'Simply love' or any of my other stories. As I said, 'Slaves' wasn't supposed to be a public story originally. It was a mistake to put it online in the first place. I understand that you and many others have come to like it, and that's why I will make a compromise and leave it at a place where you can still access it. Once it's finished, I'll maybe think about whether or not I make the story available in a public archive again, but not any sooner. kitsune: *hugs* I hope you'll do better soon.

Ah, I see. Well it comes down to it being your story and your comfort level, so I'm glad you've found a solution. =)
In any case, I'm off to camp out in hopes of "Simply Love" updates. *grins*shoulders lawn chair*

By the way, Moose... What's the link for where you'll be posting from now on?
(Yes, I know that sentence makes no sense gramatically. Oh well.)

There's not much to see there yet. It's mainly one thing right now: functional. "Slaves" is officially gone from ffnet as of today.

Functional is better than pretty and non-functional... (the latter being more like my personal website, lol!!)
I just can't be bothered to update at all.

Welcome back. *hugs*
I haven't written on Slaves latety. I did finish my entry for contest #4 (which, of course, is a tiny little bit too late... ;D ), and I'm currently working on the new chapter of 'Love'. I will probably write two chapters for 'Love', and then a new one for Slaves.
