Yeah, I've done the same. My mum was doing a write-up for some day trip we went on, and she was -so- exasperated at my continual comments. I tried to hold it in, I really did...but she's hopeless...
And then when I read my some of my classmates' English works....yeah, my fingers itch. A -lot-. You won't believe how many mistakes they can makes, though.
And the other night I was reading some Enid Blyton (don't ask why) and I just needed to fix it...and Laurell Hamilton is no better. You know, in the 12th Anita Blake book, she has "wretch" instead of "retch" and says "voila" as "viola" several times. And her grammar -sucks-. Whoever edits her stuff should be shot. It's painful.

I'm doing the same. ^^;; I wonder why it's so much easier to discover others mistakes than my own?

If you've ever read a thesaurus for fun,
If you've ever asked one of your personal heros to correct the spelling in the flavor text of their own autograph,
If your significant other has to threaten to cut power to your office to get you to eat,
If you get teary with joy when someone intelligently eviscerates your story in a review,
If you know EXACTLY what kind of bunny Nii is carrying around (I swear he's a frustrated ficcer),
If you worry about the grammar and word choice in your instant messages,
If you've ever bribed a friend into doing you a really BIG favor by offering a story,
you might be a fanfic author.
Incidentally, I don't know what's more frightening: the way these things sound when you read them to non-fanfiction authors, or the fact that we all have so much in common...

Incidentally, I don't know what's more frightening: the way these things sound when you read them to non-fanfiction authors, or the fact that we all have so much in common... Its when you read them to non-fanfic writers, I'm sure. Some of my friends read this and said(in a nut shell), " You people are scary!!" And sometimes I have to agree with that... ;D Insane ficcy writers in the lose! And hey, we've even found each other and made a club. Ahh, yup, we are kinda scary.

... you spend your class/worktime writing down plot notes,
... most drawings or doodles that make it on paper illustrate an obscure fic idea/scene,
... many of your stray thoughts wander to the subject of why you do/don't support some characters/pairings/anime/shows/etc.,
... whilst other classmates/colleagues talk about everyday life things, you love talking about an idea you have in the works,
Then you might be a fanfic author. <3

If the random "original" poems you write all stem unconsciously from a fandom....or one of your own/favourite fanfic author's stories...
If you mutter "Replace comma with a semicolon, dash, colon or full-stop" in your sleep....(hint hint, someone)...
If you're rather afraid that whoever betas your friend's work next will think you suggested bad grammar....
...you might be a fanfic author. ;D

You might be a fanfic writer if...
...you write twenty original quotes in less then ten minutes.
...watching Barney really did scare the bunnies away.
...when you go online, the first thing you do is see what people have to say about your posted work, or if someone said something new!
Not to sure about the Barney one, a sibling of mine came up with it, she really said was that she didn't know why people let ther're three year olds watch a purple dinosaur dance and sing, when he gives any sane person nighmares.
So I just changed what she said a little.

Actually, S.Eerandgel - Barney just gave me an idea! Shoot the purple thing!

*g* Oh, come on, I had to say something.
And there's very little that can really scare away the plot bunnies...though Barney may be on that very short list...

Oh, come now, I can think of a few things that scare bunnies away.
Chocolate being one of them, well okay it won't scare them away, but it keeps them at bay. Sometimes.
Oh, and paper clips scare some types of bunnies away as well.
And Barney just scares me.

Hey All!
I was wondering if it was okay with you if I put most of these into an e-mail, and a list pen names (no e-mail addys of who came up with them. I would like to send them to some of my writer and non writer friends.
And now I've confused my self.
Is that okay? Not that I'm confused, but if I can e-mail these out....

if you've ever cried about the horrible predicament your favorite character is in - only to realize that you're the one who put him there.
If a friend who knew you long before fandom now habitually begins IM conversations with: "Gimme Chapter",
If your s.o. has upgraded to an ergonomic keyboard out of fear for the health of your wrists,
You might be a fanfic author.
btw. S.Erandgel, you're welcome to repost at least mine of these, but I'd say give credit to the board for inspiring them. Just my two cents. The moderators and other contributors might have more correct advice.
