www.geocities.com/lee_fanfic/dessert2.htmlAnother case of "Stuck in the Dessert". That's still a raw sketch. I'll have to redo it tomorrow... but I'm too zonked for that now. I hope you won't feel too sickened by it.

First, I cannot tell you how much I LOVE Gojyo's expression in the Jell-o sketch! Too cute!! As for plots: Well, lucky me, I don't aim to become a professional author. I'd be wasting years of art school if I did tha-at... But I shall try to become more efficient at it...(says the girl who wrote "Snapshots" in five days...) Sub vs Dub: The one for Saiyuki still kills me. And I agree about the way they try to shove in common vernacular. It killed me that Hakkai's first line in English was "Oh, sh**!" (apparently this forum edits bad language. I find this unnecessarily funny. Whee!) ... Ew. And, honestly, I get little happy shivers whenever I hear the original seiyuu for Gojyo. He gets me -goooood- ;D Dude, speaking of voice actors, it's so hilarious when you hear them double up. I mean, I know they've gotta eat and everything, but I still think it's cute. Paul Dobson, Richard Cox, Crispin Freeman, Jonny Bosch, Steve Blum... I hear them -everywhere- ... and quite a few others, too. I think the coolest bit, though, is how when two of them work together on one anime, they'll work together on a few more. I think I'm just a major dork, but when I recognize a voice I have to grin.

On voice actor we differ greatly. I really think they should be allowed one Main Character then so long. Unless you can change the voice please seek other work. It is the whole richard cox as both Inuyasha and Boy type Ranma. IT creeps me out. and Now Greg Ayers/Goku is going to voice Chrno!!! It is so not want I was picturing!! whine, pregnant dog(wow censored!!), moan. Epp while checking On this I found out he will also be Satoshi Hiwatari from DNAngel!!!!! I rest My case! Ok, I was going to write something on topic but Now I am way to bummed.

See, for me, listening to voice actors double, triple, quadruple up is a wonderful thing. Especially because the voices I recognize most easily are male, and I choose to remember them because they strike me. I enjoy hearing them in new roles. And plus, it's funny! Crispin Freeman: Alucard (Hellsing), Amon (Witch Hunter Robin), Tsume (Wolf's Rain) ... those are the three roles I've heard him in, and each one showcases a different aspect to his range. I am a happy puddle of goo when he does his Alucard laugh. (Then again, my friend *MET HIM* at ComiCon and he said "Hello, Policegirl" to her and she nearly swooned...;D ) And what about Jonny Bosch? Vash (Trigun), Sakaki (Witch Hunter Robin), and Kiba (Wolf's Rain) ! The two paired up twice, so now I'm curious to see if they'll do it again in another anime or four or five. And speaking of WHR the actor for Nagira (whose name I always forget) also voiced Rurouni Kenshin's Sagara Sanosuke! I love that guy and it was cool to hear him again! Not to mention three characters from Gundam Wing went on to do Inuyasha (Duo = Kouga, Zechs = Naraku, Trowa = Miroku <- that one made me laugh hardest!) or that Steve Blum lends the same gorgeous chords that voiced Spike Spiegel to the little robot that hosts Toonami. So, really, for me it's more of a reunion with familiar voices than altering a character. I like to hear the versatility as actors change roles, and it's always cool to just be able to 'astound' other people when you make the connection first Goku's english VA is the only one I really liked out of the one episode I forced myself to watch. I'm glad he's getting other work so I can hear him maybe do something that grates a little less on my fragile, fragile nerves. Note: Richard Cox as Ranma? I think I may fall out of my chair in convulsive giggles over that one. Oh, my freakin' goodness. I'm curious about that.

KarotsAmused: Glad you liked the doodling. The guys still have their boxers on for obvious reasons. As far as dub-voice actors go... I'm a huge fan of Scott McNeil.

When it comes to voice actors I stick to the Japanese seiyuus. (Sorry for the English plural ending on the Japanese word. ) Hakkai and Gojyo in Jello. Yummie, that's a dessert I would like.

True, true. The original is hard to beat. Besides, it's the voices the characters were suposed to have. Still, I love Scot McNeil's voice acting. The guy's great. Admittingly, I'm slightly biased after witnessing him life on stage at a convention.

I think it is the fact that I use voices to identify people a lot more than most people. Once I recognize a voice I am much more likely to remember your name for instance.
I will give You that Scott McNeil is great. I will even switch back to the english track on Kouga episodes just to hear him. I almost got the first of the gundum set just to hear the famous Duo voice I hear so much about. He is Insane! I was at a Convention with a panel of Him, richard cox and the girl that does Shippo's voice. I can say one thing putting his face to the voices did make it funnier. But I will point Out he does a lot of different voices. It dosn't sound like the same guy talking over and over.
Oh, by the way yes Opti your dessert is just peachy! I can't believe they let you do that.
Yep, Richard Cox as boy type ranma I think it is from like season 3 on. I guess I could go check but I am way to comfy right here at the computer. I seriously can't watch that then watch Inuyasha it really dosn't work.

Don't get me wrong - I definitely prefer the seiyuu to the dub actor, but if it's an anime I'm not in love with I'm not willing to shell out the bucks to buy the DVD or anything. Thus, I settle for dubs. And yeah, Scott McNeil has a very nice set of pipes, there. Darn all you who've met him.

I've uploaded the 'cleaned up' version of the Jello doodling. I'm not very happy with it, though. Maybe I should've tossed in Goku as well. therhoda: Thanks. The guys weren't very pleased, but they didn't have much of a choice. I just caught them in a fanfic situation, you know.

I think merely Hakkai and Gojyo were good enough for that image. Remember, too many cooks spoil the kitchen, and too much swimming turns your Jell-o into so much flavored water. Plus that, Goku strikes me more as a popping-out-of-the-birthday-cake sorta guy. ;D I think the boys are used to putting up with 'fanfic moments' by now...but at least we are being humane in that they're in nice, room-temperature-esque desserts. I'd feel really bad if, for example, Goku had to pop out of a frozen ice-cream cake. o.O; I choose this moment to quote that one animated movie about Sinbad... "Ch! Put a shirt on before you poke someone's eyes out!"

Hehe... I think, Goku would eat his way through the cake, rather than pop out of it. And you're right, ice cream would be somewhat harsh. Mmm... I like the Sinbad animated movie. The story and all was average, and of course completely 'out of the universe'... but I loved the characterizations and dynamics. The Goddess was hilarious. Can you imagine her getting into a quarrel with Kanzeon over Sanzo & gang?

The scary bit is, I can. I -love- how Eres was animated, too, constantly moving and tangling about herself...great to watch. But if she and Kanzeon got into a brawl, who would win? o.O; The thing about Sinbad... I loved it for characterisation and the utter eye-candy of the artwork and CG, but Brad Pitt is not good without his own expressions to complete the image. The character of Sinbad didn't sit right with me because the animation didn't match the voice as well as it could have. Then again, for Dreamworks' second full-length animated feature, it wasn't half bad. I saw a lot of the same shades of art as were used in The Road to El Dorado, but every character was far too muscular for his stature, saving perhaps the first mate and, of course, the bilge rat Then again, I'm a HUGE El Dorado fan, absolutely in love with the dynamic chemistry between Tulio and Miguel (and I'm a fan of Kenneth Brannagh too ;D ) and still stunned at how they managed to make animated gold actually look and react like real gold. It's a pity the movie wasn't advertised better... Heh, but if you notice my love-love relationship with El Dorado, it's no wonder Sinbad didn't really live up to my expectations. I did see some shades of familiar scripting in the clever censorship of some of the dialogue and the way Sinbad's crew is on his back about manners, but outside of characterisation it was pretty boring. And even then, I wasn't all that hot on Sinbad...wish Chaos got a lot more airtime than she did. That would have been fu-un. And more messing around with the living constellations. So much potential left on the cutting-room floor!

Yes, a fight between the Greek Goddess of Chaos and the Buddhist Goddess of Mercy wold sure rock. Gojyo: Oi, Sanzo... why do the girls fight over YOU? Sanzo: *smirk* I fully agree on the animation. Though, I did love the very realistic looks (not of the characters, but of the world around them). I only saw it dubbed to German, so I can't say anything about the original voices, unfortunately. Dreamworks seems to do better in Europe with their movies. Then again, European tastes are a bit different. What is a flop in the USA can become a huge success here, and the other way around. .

Heh, as much as I think Sanzo would be irked at the goddesses fighting over him, he'd have a great time lording it over Gojyo. Be glad you saw the German dub is all I can say. Most of the original actors were great...but the lead role was not satisfactory at all. >< As for overseas successes, that really does seem to be true...and at least Dreamworks is doing well somewhere. I'm so sick of Disney. SO sick of Disney. (But yay for Pixar. ;D ) And Americans rip stuff off like crazy instead of using subtitles or dubbing. 'Abren Los Ojos' becomes 'Vanilla Sky' and 'Ringu' becomes 'The Ring' and all sorts of other crazy stuff. I think one of my favorite instances of border-jumping, though, comes from the cover of Tears for Fears' "Mad World" by Michael Andrews and Gary Joules. It wasn't all that popular in the USA until 'Donnie Darko' hit Europe...and then as "Mad World" gained popularity in England everybody in the USA started to take notice. What a flight that song has had!
