As Dr. Evil would put it, "The details of my life are quite inconsequential." That fact notwithstanding. I love discussing both the technical aspects of writing and the fan-gratifying minutiae of the stories and characters who keep me up nights.
At the moment, I'm writing an epic for the Full Metal Panic fandom. I adore the MITHRIL gang, but they are rough to write. I've spent a simply ridiculous amount of time studying physics and naval warfare, and still don't know as much as I'd like to. Even so, it's a matter of honor to get this story finished before Valentines, so I keep at it.
Another manga/anime I adore is Hikaru no Go. It seems as though a show about go would be hopelessly boring, and so I thought until my friend skyhcan teased me with the first four episodes. Now I'm hopelessly hooked. My only trouble with the fandom is that it's hard to find fanfics to read that don't involve pairings. I've nothing against slash, per se, but I just can't see it in that setting. So naturally, I had to write a few anecdotes as I saw things.
Then of course, there's my guilty new pleasure, Saiyuki. All but one of the friends I hang out with happen to be male, and they just don't get it. Unfortunately, this includes my beta, skychan, so the bits and bobs I've written for this fandom are completely without oversight. I think I enjoy reading Saiyuki fics as much as writing them, but until I found this board, it was tough being unable to share them with anyone.
Anyway, I'm sure that's more than enough about myself. Thanks for visiting.

Long Live Hikaru! Now I don't mind the insane pairings as much. But what is with the throw Sai into a female body thing?? SO nice to find another fan.
Saiyuki is a guilty pleasure for all of us, kind of like dark chocolate that you read instead of eat.
Have you tried Fruits Basket yet?

treneka, welcome to the board. It's always nice to meet another Saiyuki fan. Even though there are lots of other anime that I watch and enjoy, Saiyuki is the one I enjoy the most. Guilty pleasure? NO, no guilt at all. ;D After reading your first 2 Saiyuki stories, and totally enjoying them, I hope to read many more by you. Fruits Basktes is a marvelous anime.

therhoda: Dark chocolate that you read... what a wonderful image! Glad to meet another HnG fan, and I must agree the gender confusion surrounding Sai is a little baffling. Maybe it's the hair? Ah well. I'm sure he wouldn't mind, so long as he could continue to play. My husband recently bought the Fruits Basket box set, and I quite enjoyed it. I had to watch the first couple episodes twice through to really get it, but now I'm collecting the manga and wishing I had access to more. I like the emotional depth of such a seemingly silly premise. Ah, if only they'd make a sequel... In the mean time, I think I'll read "Sing for me." cesmith: Pleasure to meet you too. I'm glad you liked the stories, and will do my best to write a few more. By the way, thank you for the download information for further Saiyuki scans. I can't seem to get enough of these guys.

Greetings and Salutations!!! Sorry that my welcome is a little late, but it is still enthusiastic!! ;D While I find the HnG anime drags in parts, I've long been addicted to the HnG manga. So sad that it is over. Fruit Baskets is another excellant anime. I'm in the process of watching FMA on toonami. I need to get caught up by April because a group of my friends are cosplaying as the cast for AnimeBoston 2005. All those miltary uniforms to make

Hi Optimoose! Don't fret about lateness; I'll content myself with hopefull thoughts that it's writing the next update to Simply Love that caused it. Hi Salmastryon! It's always nice to be welcomed enthusiastically. As for FMA - Full Metal Alchemist?? I desperately wish I could see that anime. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be out on DVD here, and I don't precisely have television access. I've heard it's very good. You'll have to post a picture of your group in finished costumes, somewhere. I'm terribly impressed by people who can sew.

Hi Blood_Debt! Thanks for stopping by. Incidentally, you raise a curiousity of mine: namely, how many Saiyuki series are there? The ones I know of (pretty much from reading this board) are:
Anime: Gensomaden Saiyuki, 2 season's worth. Saiyuki Requiem (some sort of OAV?) Saiyuki Reload (a third season of the TV show, or something different?)
Manga: Saiyuki (that's the only title they have at Barnes and Noble)
Stuff I'm not sure about: Saiyuki Gaiden (seen the term, but no clue what it's referring to, except for any stories about Konzen and Co.) Gunlock Zero Sum Backgammon (which seems to have something to do with alternate universes)
Suffice it to say, I'm a bit confused, so anyone more in the know care to explain??

In Saiyuki, you have the manga and the anime as "main strings". To the manga belong: Saiyuki Gaiden (1- not ended yet) -- Gaiden basically is a "What happened in the past", a 'Prequel' to Saiyuki Gensoumaden Saiyuki (1-9) 'complete' Saiyuki Reload (1- not ended yet) -- The name change to "Reload" was neccessary after Minekura-sama changed her publisher, due to trademark issues. Monthly installments are published in Zero Sum, and then later on several installments create one of the 'manga books'. To the anime belong: Gensoumaden Saiyuki (50 episodes) Saiyuki Reload (25 episodes) Saiyuki Reload Gunlock (26 episodes) OVA 1 OVA 2 (Saiyuki Requiem) Artbooks series: Backgammon, Salty Dog (also contains artwork for her other manga series, Bus Gamer, Wild Adapter etc.) "Continuity": If you go by the manga (which I see as 'canon'), you have parts of it 'splattered' all over the three anime series. The anime series themselve are forming their own continuity. For example, Homura doesn't show up anywhere in the manga, and the plot that leads to Kougaiji's injuries in Gensoumaden had to be 'reenacted' for 'Reload' to explain why Nii was able to get his fingers on him. Then again, the Homura arc covers most of what is in the Gaiden manga. Basically, despite the name changes, both manga and anime are "one story", each for themselves. There are referals to previous episodes and incidents. (EDIT: The manga is one complete timeline in itself. All name changes are just that, name changes, but the plot continues undisturbed. The anime seems to be a slightly AU timeline from the manga. Still, it does have a continuity from episode 1 to the last episode of Gunlock, BUT it being an anime also has more continuity holes. Still, compared to other manga translations into anime, Saiyuki got off pretty well.) I'm not sure if this helps any, and it's not a very detailed explanation. Sorry!

O.O
*sputters* You haven't read the Gaiden??
Well, that's easy enough to fix. *retrieves Santa hat*
First you're going to start at MangaCity (http://www.mangacity.net/?page=gaiden), where you're going to download scanlations of the first volume. You're then going to either AIM me or friend my livejournal, where I can hook you right up with Chapters 11-15.
If it sounds like I'm a dealer or a pimp...well, meet Ten-chan. ^^
(I also have scanlations and .avi files for Reload through the "Even a Worm" arc. Ask and ye shall receive. ;D)

Ask and ye shall receive. ;D) Ooh! Does that go for me, too? (I've not seen 11-15)

Oh, I have slipped the surly bonds of earth and danced the skies on laughter silvered wings... -from High Flight (whose author I cannot remember at the moment)
Anyway, suffice it to say the link was lovely, the gaiden manga was lovely, and I have fallen in love with Konzen all over again, and Tenpou for the 1.5th time (after all, I first fell for a quasi-reincarnation of him as depicted in that fanfiction, "Honeymoon" that made me cry).
On an utterly unrelated topic, I just read four volumes worth of D. N. Angel, and am intrigued by the concept of intrapersonal dichotomy. Satoshi and Daisuke are welcome to haunt my dreams tonight (although they may have to fight with Ten-chan and Konzen and Sai).

Ms Congeniality: Absolutely. You can either IM me at WildeLamassu and do a file transfer, or you can friend my livejournal (see the link at the bottom of the page), where I'll be posting the scans, hopefully some time this evening. I'm going to friendslock the post, however, seeing as the scanlations were done by a lovely friend of mine, and aren't public (a la MangaCity's).
Tren: ..."to touch the face of God." Oh, goodnessthelove. I am more than justified, I think, in affectionately shortening your username.
(A very Tenpou thing to do--to quote poetry at something vaguely ridiculous, and make it /work/. *is a puddle of goo at your feet*)
A suggestion: Sora (http://www.fanfiction.net/u/125109/), the author of "Honeymoon," also wrote an excellent 58--"alphaCma."
I'll have to look into this "D.N. Angel" of which you speak. ^^
